August 12, 20196 yr Thought Lampards comments were pretty telling. Wouldn't surprise me if he displaces Azpi quickly once he's back.
August 12, 20196 yr Was watching highlights of Reece yesterday. What a player he is. No wonder so many PL teams were chasing him in the summer. He's quick, strong, fantastic range of passing, confident and has the ability to make space for himself so often. We desperately need him over Azpilicueta whom I said last season, is not good enough to be our right back in an attacking system.

August 12, 20196 yr Frank told yesterday he is expecting a lot from Reece. Azpilicueta should be worried for his place.

Soon as Reece is fit I hope Lamps puts him in at Right Back. Up to Dave to play well enough to either take a CB spot or the left back one from Emerson. I will go bolder than the future Chelsea captain predictions. He will be a better player for us this season than Dave if given a chance.
August 12, 20196 yr I'm very excited about Reece. He's strong, quick, good on the ball and looks very confident. Probably needs a run of games to learn how things work at the top level, but the potential is enormous.

He came to the club as a rightback but I’ve previously said and stand by that he’s been at his best for us either as a leftback under Mourinho or as the RCB under Conte. At rightback I have never been fully convinced and he didn’t have a good season there under Sarri and he had a horrible time at Old Trafford. I think Lampard have already realized that he’s not a good fit for his style of football and that’s why he said he’s looking forward to when Reece is available. Hopefully James can prove himself good enough because Azpi is unfortunately too slow. He was never lightning, but he’s lost a step or two and our pressing, high-line style is not suitable for him unfortunately.
August 13, 20196 yr First major interview with Reece James. I cannot wait to see what he can do! https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/chelsea-fc-news-reece-james-interview-profile-epl-a9054596.html
August 13, 20196 yr Really looking forward to his return, i think he's the generational type talent that will slot in seemlessly. Mount, Pulisic and Odoi are talents but there be a lot of teething with them before they get to permanent starter quality, i feel Reece is that quality now and i actually think he would have prevented the 2nd and maybe even 3rd goal at Old Trafford.

I hate to say this about one of my favorites but Azpi is becoming a serious problem on the pitch. Exactly like Ivan he's been flogged to death and declining early due to it, we need to learn from that mistake and replace him before the situation escalates. The likes of Rashford is doing stuff to him not even Messi would have been able to do to the prime version.

August 13, 20196 yr This is a great interview. He seems to be such a great, level headed lad. Reece James Interview
August 13, 20196 yr Another massive talent in our hands waiting to be presented to us. Brilliant times although I like us to win.
August 22, 20196 yr Surely going to come into the fold now that Zappa is gone. Question is, will Lampard throw him in, or will he be limited to cup games etc. He looks absolutely huge, though doesn't seem blessed with blistering pace - maybe it's just me. If we tighten up our defence with him in it, I think people will be in awe of a team containing James, Mount, Loftus & Hudson Odoi. Edited August 22, 20196 yr by Elliott

Looking back at past right backs, Ferreira wasn't exactly a speed demon either, but he did well enough.
