James is an exciting prospect, but think people will expect too much from his after a good season on loan at Wigan. Not position related but we had Bamford who was excellent in the Championship and did nothing in the top division. Tammy had two excellent loan seasons but obviously he will need time to adapt to the Premier League. I really hope he is an instant success but i feel he will need time to adjust to the team and the new league. 

Also on the Azpilicueta topic, people jumping on him and pointing fingers after years of being in the top three performers in the team? Someone mentioned he is the new Ivanović before he left and it is true. We always need a scapegoat and this time it is Azpilicueta. I agree his form is not good and that he could potentially be replaced as a starter, but is he a bad player? No. Excellent in three positions and was always 110% for us, think he could still be very good for us as center back. We should have pushed Ivanović there too and not keep him at right back and get murdered with pacey wingers.

Frank said after Utd game if I remember correctly he has high hopes for James this season.

Im sorry but there's just no comparison to Bamford. Anyone who put their head above their heart would have known the PL would be too much for him, as it proved. James is a completely different kettle of fish, he was better than Mount at youth and Championship level and Mason has taken to first team duties like a duck to water, it's not exactly reaching thinking James will do the same.

Anyone who has seen this guy's videos on YouTube will agree that he is in the class of someone like Wan Bisakka. When we bought Aspi, he wasn't a superstar right back. We didn't have the money to compete with the big clubs for the best right backs at the time and that was why we bought Aspi. Looking at Reece James' videos, I think he is the real deal. Aspi should rest please.

Wasn't that the summer we signed Hazard and just won the champions league? We certainly could have signed big if we wanted to, our scouts just did a good job finding Azpi.

Azpilicueta found his legs today. I wonder if this James return to fitness has anything to do with it. 😛

Suspect it is more playing as wide back knowing he has that defensive cover of an extra CB.

Credit to Azpi for being encouraging towards Reece. He has been complimenting him and saying good things about him being the future. Sounds like Azpi knows Reece is good enough to compete with him for that spot, but hasn't disregarded him or anything.
