Personally, I thought Gallagher was our best midfielder full stop last season.

Definitely an argument to be made, Caicedo is the only one close to his level.

So my statement: there has been zero precedence for them selling our best players - referencing the talent of Reece, and your counterpoints are to mention Gallagher, Chalobah, and Ben Chilwell? Why not throw Mount in there as well. You've clearly paid attention for the past 3 years but I'm not sure it's helped much...

Feel free to disagree... I dont care anymore.

this guy is striaght up profit and we know what our owners think of clear profit. Reece James is in the shop window if he keeps himself fit. Our sporting directors will force him out the club like the others. Same deal different day, if you think differently cool.

Can't disagree. But you can also pick either one of Sanchez or Jorgensen this season and accurately claim he's our best goalkeeper this season - it doesn't mean anything. Our best and only top players are Palmer, Caicedo, and Reece. Everyone else is sellable and should be.

just because you use a wet sock nightly to express your feelings about them doesnt mean theyre not sellable. Every play has a price.

People seem to be using the phrase 'pure profit' without understanding what it actually means and the context, because it's landed as mainstream buzz words.

Selling an academy player or senior in their second contract phase as pure profit is a mechanism for some clubs to improve the squad or a particular position. There is no better RB in the game than Reece, so while he may be sold, pure profit won't be the driver. His injury issues leading to perhaps declining ability would be a far bigger consideration.

I also have no issue with clubs forcing players out. Players have the option and take it all the time so why should clubs be held to a higher standard?

Every player has a price (which I've said above), not every player is viewed as sellable from a club's perspective. Thick or just a troll?

If every player has a price, every player is sellable. go chew through some mince, hope you're not as thick as it.

It's rare, but I'm going to defend Maresca on this one.

James playing RB for England against Latvia is very different to asking James to play RB in the Premier League. International football is played a jogging pace at best in these types of qualifiers so the chances of him pulling his hamstring is much lower.

If James can still play as a RB, then we should 100% do it, but I suspect he would quickly break down with another injury again if we did.

World class free-kick aside it was hard to judge him.

His positioning was good, his first cross was abysmal and then he improved a lot though just one defensive sprint and he wasn't even in the race.

Now perhaps he read it wrong yet if his pace is that badly hit he is a weakness as RB and this might be why he is used as a CM in a holding role with a CB behind him.

Obviously Enzo will know yet will not comment if we have a weakness with him.

Reece James is infinitely quicker than Cucurella who Maresca has made his full back poster boy, pace is not an issue.

His interview was the most real thing I have seen come out of this club in some time. Guy looked completely dejected. Even struggled to spit out the usual cliches like we need to think about the next game, try and bounce back. Football at this club has become completely miserable, this isn't what football should be about.

He did not get in to the game to be an asset to a business first and foremost. He wants to be a player at a football club, at Chelsea Football club.

Sadly that club is dead, we are CFC LDN now.

I totally agree.

Problem is there's nobody at the club that can see the downward spiral and sack Maresca immediately. Forget the Conference and get him out now.

Going to be interesting to see how much Reece plays for the rest of the season after that interview !

If he keeps playing in midfield I would rather he didn’t to be honest.

Given he is on 250k a week BlueCo may well be happy enough for him not to play, and see if they can make some pure profit on him whole easing up the wage bill. Got to make Room for Sterling, Felix, Kepa and Co returning.
