Mason Mount

Sounds like the boss has stepped in. If we can get him to sign a new 1/2 year deal, that should suit both parties. Mase isn’t tied to a long deal and we don’t lose him. Get it done Todd.

How does this suit the club? They will be in the same position this time next summer?

Gives us time to work out if he's just in a temporary rut or a genuine early decline.

Probably the best result for us at this moment, not sure what's in it for him though.

I think it would need to be a 3 year extension minimum for me to be comfortable with it, with option of 1 more if certain appearances are met (which is valuable for him).

I'd love to see him stay

He doesn’t have to worry about his home being burgled on Merseyside whilst playing.

Mason Mount contract is the case of why making constant expensive flop is not a good thing.

Some people said the problem is Reece contract. Nope, Reece is a RB and Mount won't look at Reece contract as baseline. I am talking about pretty much all of our attacker.

Mount is not a superstar, I have said this multiple time. But if your non superstar has outplayed all of your so called superstar for years then he will ask superstar money and you are screwed.

Ornstein reporting that Arsenal are pushing hard for both Mount & Rice.

That will be a sad sight if we see them two at Arsenal, should have happened here. Apparently Rice was our main target for midfield this summer but the club has managed to upset him and his family somehow and now a deal is not on the cards anymore.

Interesting, I thought given the open contempt you displayed for the excuse culture while Potter was here you wouldn't want Rice anywhere near the club.

It's hard not to comment when you're contradicting yourself more often than Norwich get relegated 🤣

So I contradict myself once every 2/3 years? I'll take that ratio.

You are not as clever as you think you are.

Fairs 10/10 for deflection tactic but you haven't explained why you suddenly don't seem bothered about maintaining standards.

Why is that?

Because the manager sets the standard and the players follow. If you have a manager that genuinely believes the recent Champions of Europe should aspire to be like Arsenal and who urges the supporters to watch a rubbish Amazon-series on Arsenal to get some "perspective" then you may as well piss on the badge.
Or when you credit the players with giving their all when they very clearly weren't. Or seeking praise for a "hard fought" draw at Nottingham or one of the other ridiculous things Potter concocted.

And that's fair enough. But shouldn't the leader as many think Rice also set the standards? On the exact same basis why should the recent champions of Europe have a captain that excused a relegation because of goals in training?

No.

I don't even have anything against an excuse here and there. But when your whole persona reeks of excuses in everything you do and say you should not manage a football club that intends to compete. And that was the main problem with Potter, that and being a complete yes-man to Todd Boehly.

I’d rather he didn’t go to Arsenal or Liverpool but it his choice if he thinks it’s the way for him personally to go. Think we’ll do alright out of him financially and be able re invest in people who want to be here.

Rather he stayed but not that bothered should he go.
