Mason Mount

Well Maddison has withdrew from the squad due to illness, so Mount will definitely not be getting nay rest. Think he will start personally and may have started even if Maddison was in the squad.

Would Maddison have played though? Maddison got no minutes during the last international break. Rice, Barkley, Henderson and Alli ahead of him through the middle. Worst case Mount gets 30 mins at the end of each game.

That was exactly my point. He may have started even if Maddison was in the squad. Although Barkley started the last two England games, Mount's club form has been consistent and I think he may start one of those games.

My point was Mount should probably be behind Maddison, so if he's not getting minutes for England will Mount? I'm hoping for no more than a short cameo at the end of games tbh.

I think Southgate likes Mount's press etc which is why I think he in good stead. He may keep it safe and go with same team as before. Last England game, I thought Barkley was average also, so who knows? I just want an injury-free squad on return from internationals.

One thing I do like about Southgate is that he does give the youngsters a chance and will put all his faith into them, he clearly saw something in RLC and gave him all the minutes despite not playing regularly for Chelsea at the time. Hell if it wasn't for Southgate I actually doubt Sarri would've been pressured into giving him more gametime.

I think he sees something in Mount that he's happy with to give him a start right away. I thought the WC performance England had was extremely overrated but Southgate is definitely one of the better managers England has ever had, I wouldn't be surprised if they do really well at the Euro's.

Southgate gave CHO a full senoir debut before he had a senoir club start, didnt he?  England does seem to be flourishing under him compared to how bare the cupboard seemed when he first started...

Yep, he's already played twice.

Roy Hodgeson was an awful manager, and thank god the Allerdyce appointment didn't work out, that would've been a disaster, that dinosaur would've had us playing Andy Carroll upfront with hoofball.

There's some sarri revisionism coming in about RLC. Sarri made RLC a fantastic player, had he not been constantly injured in the first half of the season he would have been playing more.

The rest is true though. Southgate does like to play the kids, which is great because previously we just picked the players that saw it as their right to play for England, they weren't excited.

Awful news. How to fatigue a young player.
It's up to us to manage that. We have enough midfield players to let Mount rest. We need to make sure we aren't reliant on him because sooner or later he will tire or get injured. If he comes back from England duty tired, so what? Play Kovacic or RLC when he is fit.

Nobody is complaining Barkley is on England duty. Play him if Mount is tired...

Both friendlies though. If he plays either of these games, and he bloody should seeing how Rashford has been played wide and he's crack.

Because Barkley is dogsh*t, let him go and tire himself out. We pay Mount's wages, why should we have to rest and manage one of our best performers because the National Team want to wear him out.

Tonights game is the most important of our qualification, the biggest test and would cement qualification. Every England game is important because we want to be seeded for the next tournament - in 9 months time - and have our team together. But tonight is slightly bigger than that and the idea that Mount shouldn't play for England because he's played a lot recently is nonsense.

Football is more important than who pays someones wages.

All I hear is whining.

Couldn't care less where England is seeded, last time i cared about an International tournament was 2004. Chelsea first and foremost, then Ilkeston FC, then maybe Rugby then last comes the National Team.

International qualifers are rubbish, completely ruin the season. Everytime the league gets going we then have 2 weeks of complete boredom. The same teams all qualify anyway playing the usual poor teams.

Last World Cup had no Italy or Holland, so the same countries dont always qualify, but agree with the rest tho. I love the finals in international football but i have no interest in qualifiers and friendlies.

While in principal I still don't like them they will be a little bit more bearable from now on (atleast for me) now our lads are slowly breaking into the England setup.

10 seconds? Wow you really struggled with it! Maybe some remedial classes needed? [emoji848]

At the end of the day, if you were in Mount's boots you'd want to represent your country as and the club knows how things are. I'd rather we had strength in depth than relied on one player
