Mason Mount

I honestly think that has nothing to do with it. Mount is a model pro and not the sort of player who would "ease up" due to lack of competition for places and Lamps wouldn't let that happen even if it were the case. No, he won't be the first player to see his form drop off and being only 20, that's also a big factor.

We could do with better options to rotate with the likes of Mount when they aren't in form and I hope RLC is not too far off as we have really missed what he gives us.

I'm not saying he's doing it on purpose but subconsciously when you get comfortable it tends to affect performance even if you don't want it to.

I think we won't get anything near the best of RLC till next season minimum which is why I think we should recall Gallagher next month, that way Mason will know he's dropped if this carries on.

They used to call Frankie ''10 + goals guaranteed midfield provider'' or something like that. But he was much, much more than that. Right now I see Mason being exactly this - he is a goal threat, gets couple of chances every game, most of the missed, but scores regularly nonetheless. Yet, his overall performance throughout the 90 minutes recently has been average at best.

Don't get me wrong, he's got great season for his age and the expectations but being irreplaceable? - he is not there yet. We always take Pulisic and Tammy off + one of the midfielders. We should try Pulisic/ Willian behind the forward, even Barkley at times. Pedro is also an option for this type of games. Mount's influence of the pitch has not been that great to be immune to these subs is all Im saying.

Much better from mount today, i still feel he plays with the blinkers on at times, but he worked hard and was much more tidy on the ball today. Really happy for him, because he has been looking a little short on confidence.

He was brilliant. He's a gem. We've struck gold with this lad.

Looking at his frame I think he will bulk up a bit more. He will be even more of a handful running with the ball if he does. Technically a very good footballer.

I said this in the first half, he was getting bullied by the Tottenham defence.

Mentally though he chases the ball and will close anyone down, so he does have that aggression and bravery in him, it's just physically he gets pushed around a bit. Still, he made an absolute mockery of the Spurs team today, a right thorn in their side.

You can see why Lamps favours him. His energy without the ball is great. We often neglect that in favour of a fancy dribble but in a big match away that's what you need.

I think Ruben will have to work hard to remove him as a regular. He plays such an important role in our defence. One you suspect Ruben os reluctant to play.

Frank's doing a great job with him, he makes some brilliant runs into the box but unfortunately he doesn't get the passes often enough at the moment.

I thought he could have done better yesterday in the last movement and this is from someone who's been a massive advocate of him for years, he miss controlled one in the first half when a solid touch would have had him clean through and passed to a marked Tammy when Willy was wide open on the other side.

However that's the only complaint I have yesterday, he was otherwise brilliant and has a tactical brain that defy's his age. He's arguably our most important player while playing 3atb as with him we can shift from 343/352 seemlessy depending on what a certain period in the game requires.

He did well. I think he needs more time to develop though, some decision making isn't top notch yet and sometimes he lacks a bit of vision.

I think he should try to shoot more also, he can do multiple things at a high level which makes it difficult to make the right decision in a split time of a second sometimes, the big factor is that he's still young but given how good he is, it only goes in his favour.

I can't believe people (not just on here, but on social media too) were critiquing him so much this season.

He is young, just came up from championship, he needed and still does need time to develop further.

I wonder how many of those people back in the summer vowed to be patient if academy lads were playing.

His youthful exuberance couldn't be matched by spurs plodders, when he bulks out a bit, he'll be everything RLC isn't

Which is what exactly seeing as RLC is a pretty complete player

He doesn't play with the urgency and desire that Mount plays, and will play with, at their stages in their careers imho, Mount is way ahead, RLC is 23 odd, he should be like Yaya Toure/ Viera/ keane for us, prove me wrong Rufus..

I know this isn't the point...but RLC isn't really a Viera/Keane type of player, if you only focus on the recent last years, he went from some kind of a wing position to a more mid offensive-oriented position if I recall it right. Maybe he could have been like Yaya Toure but the last time he played he was more like Ballack or something like that?

That's nothing, if you search his name on Twitter all you get is abuse and criticism. People don't have a clue, the fans are fickle as f**k.

Forget twitter, even the Talk Chelsea match thread you've got people commenting (during the match) that he was playing sh*t and starting implying favroitism when the third sub was made (meaning he was playing the 90).

You would have thought the Jorgi/Kova situation taught a few lessons.

Oscar had work rate. A player needs more than that and RLC is better on every level.
