Moussa Dembele

Lots of news about this in the papers, agreed personal terms etc. his goal scoring record is good.

Chelsea are ahead of Manchester United in a pursuit for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele after personal terms were agreed, according to transfer expert Ian McGarry.

However, McGarry says there have been talks between Chelsea and Dembele and a contract has been agreed.

McGarry said on the Transfer Window Podcast: “My information is that Chelsea have fairly agreed [a] contract, verbally that is, with Dembele and his representatives in terms of the player’s wages, bonuses etc, etc and that it remains for the club to agree the fee, fee structure and/or any add ons etc with Jean Michel-Aulas of Lyon.

His goal scoring record is okay, nothing outstanding though. His first year in Scotland was good, but it's a really poor league where average players like Scott Sinclair can end up being one of the best players in the league. His second season was mediocre though, he only scored 9 league goals. His goalscoring for Lyon last season was okay, but again, nothing spectacular and this season he is on course to score a similar number of goals.

His overall game may be better suited to us than Batshuayi's game is, but I'm not convinced he will be anything special based on what I have seen of him.

He's only 23 though, there has to be some potential that hasn't been explored yet.

I view him as a nearly perfect January signing, similar as with Aké.

"I’m surprised to see his name pop up so regularly when it’s not popping up in my conversations."

...Said Frankie Lampard.

So if nothing is true, there is no other option but to sound the 48 hour alarms daily!

His stats not making him look prolific doesn't mean he won't do well here and on the flip side another player with amazing stats could flop.

Never watched him but he's got to have something as there are a few clubs in for him including Juventus. Spurs in for him as well is typical of Jose trying to go after rival pursuits.

I think we should buy him.

He's a good player IMO, used to the EPL and is decent with either feet.

Going into the rest of the season with just Tammy as our main striker seems very risky to me.

Frank clearly doesn't fancy Michy or Giroud so what will happen if Tammy is injured, burnt out or loses a bit of form?

Then go for Danny Ings who is doing in tin this league now. A bit older but 27 isn't old.

I don't really want Ings, but I don't think what he is going through is a purple patch. He was a good player before joining Liverpool, two serious injuries ruined his chances of having a successful career with them though. What we are seeing now is what he would have been like if he hadn't picked up those injuries.

I think he would be a better backup striker than Batshuayi and Giroud, but there is no way he is going to want to play second fiddle when he has spent so much of his career out with injuries.

Lyon just got a new striker on loan. Dembele might be coming soon! Excited!

Speculation that United have now jumped to the front of the race because Rashford is injured.

Oh well...

I like Dembele, I think he can be bought for a reasonable amount, provide healthy competition to Tammy and is still young enough to improve.

Having him and Tammy at a similar age and getting better at the same time makes sense to me.

Dembele is young and probably hasn't reached his peak yet. I think he would be a good signing if we can do business in January. Aulas is difficult to do business with though so we probably have our work cut out.

Ings, no thank you. He's just going through a purple patch but he is in no way the calibre we require.

Yes, I suppose, let's stick with Bats!

He is decent but we are struggling with a guy who has scored 13 PL goals and we want to bring goals from a guy who scored 11 in the french league? Unless he can play in a 2 or on the wing I think we need goals from midfield, Tammy is up there as one of the top scorers.
