Who led those pieces of business? it would be remiss to talk about the war chest without giving credit to the person who helped build it We're in this position because of a spectacularly run club. There are no guarantees in life, but I'm thrilled with how Chelsea has conducted business the last 24 months. I too think the club do much better business than most other clubs but that doesn't mean they haven't been lucky with the timing of the availability of funds. Chelsea just happen to have a huge fund from the sales of some top players when a world pandemic comes along and depresses the transfer market. If the pandemic hadn't happened the likes of Barca and Real would be all over Harvertz and Werner.

Yes, the ban was a huge blessing in disguise in hindsight. Also the fact that we brought in Lampard & Petr Cech when we did have had a major impact obviously. If we didn't have the ban and Sarri remained manager we would likely have gone down the path of signing the likes of Higuain permanently. And been in the sh*t now. Even if some of the young players brought in last season do not make the team their value will have increased through being part of a top 4 team. They most likely wouldn't have had that experience without the transfer ban. The stars aligned and we are on track to have the best transfer window since 2004 and certainly better than other PL clubs at the moment. Marina must be working nights getting all these transfers over the line. Silva, Chilwell and Havertz all to be signed in the coming days and there's rumours of a goalkeeper too. She's even picked a good year to not have a holiday.

I agree, but you make your own luck to a certain extent, because the club is well run, Chelsea is in a position to take advantage of a depressed market. That's not an accident. Bottom line, since this is the Marina Granovskaia thread... there aren't a lot of execs around football I'd want to trade her for....

It's gone under the radar but that's also a good amount of cash that has made it possible to invest as heavily as we currently are. And i don't think we are quite done after the three you mention either.
August 26, 20205 yr We also overlook the fact that we have made money from loaning players too.. Baka was a 5 million loan , Zouma was 7 mil, we recouped the Higuain loan by selling Fabregas in January.. even Pasalic and Morata bought in 10m in loan fees. I think financially we are well run club.

Hakim Ziyech - Ajax ✔️ Jimi Tauriainen - HJK Helsinki ✔️ Edwin Andersson - IFK Goteborg ✔️ Timo Werner - RB Leipzig ✔️ Xavier Mbuyamba -Barcelona ✔️ Ben Chilwell -Leicester City ✔️ Malang Sarr - OGC Nice ✔️ Thiago Silva - PSG ✔️ Kai Havertz - Leverkusen ❓

August 29, 20205 yr Has she sold anyone yet? We could put a new squad out every game next season without a worry.

At the moment, we can put out 2 starting XIs, pit them against each other in training and the best gets to start. We'd probably move on 6 players in this window in all honesty

September 4, 20205 yr Like a boss . To extract £143m from Madrid for the player with one year left on his contract, that's impressive. Edited September 4, 20205 yr by abramovich

With Madrid winning the league we've already triggered one of the bonus payments as well. Over £100m for a player approaching 30 with 12 months left on their contract is good deal for us, especially when you look at how it's been reinvested.

Kind of crazy how the fee went from £90m and could go upto £140m! I mean Hazard is genuinely world class, but I think for a player on his last year approaching 30, thats one hell of a deal! Especially considering if we do get £140m we have used that money to buy Ziyech, Werner and Havertz
