June 13, 20206 yr I have seen too little of Chilwell I admit that. Funnily enough two of the games I watched were Leicester against City and Liverpool. The biggest rivals and targets. That is pretty much my experience of the man. In those games he was a weak link.
June 13, 20206 yr Mahrez didn’t destroy Chilwell. It was a Mahrez, De Bruyne double up. If I remember correctly KDB was constantly making runs into the right channel forcing Chilwell to engage leaving Mahrez in space. A problem that Rodgers or any of the Leicester players didn’t help with, leaving Chilwell out numbered 2-1 all time. I’m pretty sure even Ashley would have struggled in that situation.
June 14, 20206 yr Depends which Chilwell we get, if he displays his early season form consistently he's worth the money imho, if we get the Chilwell that seemed to coast through the rest of the season would prefer to sign Gosens (likely cheaper too, Gosens contract expires 2022)

He didn't get a lot of help that day. But I've watched him lots and honestly it doesn't need to be Mahrez or KdB to give him trouble. Similarly his touch and passing in tight spaces is not worth 40m let alone the fee quoted which is double that.

Give him space to run and he looks great, but as you say get tight to him and he struggles. The term flat track bully comes to mind.
June 14, 20206 yr If Frank wants him, and then the club can agree a fee we are happy to pay, let it be.
June 15, 20206 yr Might be a little controversial, but i would rather go for Saka from Arsenal, than spend big on Chilwell. Saka has 12 months left on his contract, he can play left back, or either wing, and he looks a quality prospect. Use azpi or Alonso in games we might need more defensive stability or experience. 19 in a couple of months, and sure we could prize him from arsenal since he is refusing a contract and they need the money, woulfnt be too expensive, very high ceiling. James and Saka with livermento, and maatsen coming through could see us set at full back for years.

June 16, 20206 yr Apparently Frank wanted Aubameyang and he got Werner. If he goes wishing Chilwell he gets someone else. Marina shows him who the boss is. [emoji16]

June 16, 20206 yr Concerning Chilwell I think the talent is there, but his attitude apparently has been horrible of late. He is skipping training sessions or turning up late, too much nightlife and not working hard enough in training is what I've read,so I would prefer we avoid, but that's just my opinion.

I think who we sign for left back and we need one will all depend on how good they think maatsen is. If you believe all the rumours they really like him. He's still only 18 and we do have a young squad maybe an older more experienced left back for Maatsen to replace in a few years.
June 16, 20206 yr It would appear that the problem most of us have is that while he seems a decent player (if not quite in the top level as yet) due to his age and the fact he is English there is an inflation of his price tag, I am mixed on him yes he appears to be an upgrade on what we have currently, is he the very best out there available? I am not sure, at 23 could he be in the future? possibly, do I feel that he is currently worth the 80 odd million that has been touted around? I dont think so. However if the club feels he fits the mold we want and are happy to pay the money then yeah why not.

June 20, 20206 yr So far he's helped Chelsea in terms of giving Watford a chance to win. In all fairness he is as dire as Leicester as a team. Maybe this restart is just so early for the teams. Not great football.

June 20, 20206 yr Sarr putting him on show so far.He looked like Alonso against Sarr. Granted Sarr is probably quickest player in the league but still haven't seen a hint of that class that makes Leicester slap 75m pricetag on him.

Plenty of us never saw a hint of anything that made them slap 35m on Danny Drinkwater either...

June 20, 20206 yr He looks very good offensively but he is up against Watford's best player. He tormented Liverpool before the football suspension.
