I would rather we get to the bottom of these injury issues and give our players a chance to reach their best again, because every time we sell a player, they seem to be perfectly fine at their new club. James is a much better player than Chilwell, not even close. Which players? some have gone to easier league, Mount done nothing and Havertz looks exactly the same player he was at Chelsea. March 11, 20242 yr I wouldn't sell Chilwell. We obviously need a player that is more reliable though. If we can find Gusto we can find the LB Gusto.

Or, we turn RB Gusto into LB Gusto and look for another RB Gusto. But then RB Gusto is Gusto who is LB Gusto who is RB Gusto who is LB Gusto. That said, I like RB Gusto and LB Gusto which makes Me Gusto. But Me Gusto means I am Gusto... Problem solved, sign me up. I need more sleep.
March 11, 20242 yr We don't need another Gusto for LB. We need an actual top LB in his prime. When fit you could argue Reece is the best right back in the world that's why he's worth persevering with through injury. A fully fit Chilwell doesn't break the top 15 left backs. we've tried to upgrade on him once and in truth we'll need one to be competitive anyway.

James hasn't been good for a long time now, and we put that down to his injury issues, the same can be said about Chilwell. Out of all of the players we let go, it's only Mount and Ziyech that are suffering from injury issues, and Mount is playing for a club that is also notorious for turning fit players into a broken mess. Our most injury prone players of the last decade like Kante, Pulisic, Kovacic and Loftus-Cheek have mostly remained injury free all season. Edited March 11, 20242 yr by Scott Harris

Kovacic isn't being played as much, and has been injured this season. Pulisic wasn't injured that much in the last year with us just wasn't used correctly. I personally would of kept Pulisic anyway especially for the cheap price we sold him. RLC has been injured too. I thought James was playing pretty well before being injured, only the Utd game and Newcastle i can think of where he was really poor.
March 12, 20242 yr Selling either James or Chilwell isn't ideal. We already have a proper reliable replacement knock on wood in Gusto to fill in for James. Just need to find the same thing for Chilwell, and ideally an upgrade.

Because aside the reality that no one is going to take from us an injury prone left back on 200K a week, he's still a good player when fit. I'd have him as a squad option.

I feel strongly about him and Reese because it is obvious they will never have a season devoid of injury and they hold or are meant to hold important places in the team. Also not good for morale in a squad with an already fragile morale. I disagree re Reece, he's one of those players you just have to put up with it for for me, even more so now we have Gusto to pick up the slack. To put it into context, Reece is three off the top in our squad for big chances created despite starting 5 times (all bar one of which against a big opponent).
March 14, 20242 yr I've just seen a report that Chilly may not be back until the end of the season , I think maybe it's time for a parting of the ways if we can find anyone to buy him and cover his big wages .

He’s also decent going forward but won’t score as many as Chilwell. Obvious injury issues the last 18 months but when you consider how much we spent on the generational talents over the last 4 windows £23 million seems a bargain.

March 15, 20242 yr No point replacing an injury prone player with an equally injury prone player. May as well keep Chillwell and save the 23 million.

My view is there are maybe at least 2 in the league that he might face a losing battle with for the title, not to talk of on the world stage. I feel it's the hype of our own as well as a fawning English media and accompanying narrative. Sure he is good, maybe more complete than othera in all phases of the game, ie attack and defense but I've never really subscribed to the best in the world view as solely a RB. Anyway, the best player in the world is of no use to his team if he can't get on the pitch.

March 15, 20242 yr Encouraging to hear that he is available for the first team again quite quickly this time. Sounds like there was bruising around his knee and the medical staff were being cautious following his injury history.
