November 15, 20205 yr It's a banana skin game for sure, it's usually one of those games when we go up there. Last time we had about nearly 80% possession, over 10 shots on target and they won 1-0 in the last minute off a corner. I think we'll dominate them, but we have to be clinical. We'll be relying on the likes of Ziyech or Pulisic (if he's fit) to create. One thing with Newcastle is that they do crumble after they go 2 goals down, they're not really a team that creates a lot of chances but they can be lethal on the counter attack. I'm still confident we'll win this, but I know an upset is always on the cards when you play here and this type of team.
November 16, 20205 yr It looks as though Ben Chilwell picked up a knock on England duty. Lower back injury?? I just hope that he is a fast healer and is back for Saturday ?

November 17, 20205 yr Quote A UEFA Nations League group match Tuesday between Switzerland and Ukraine was canceled because of multiple positive coronavirus tests. "Ukraine's UEFA Nations League fixture with Switzerland cannot take place. The Ukrainian national team has been quarantined following further positive COVID-19 tests," according to UEFA. Swiss authorities quarantined the entire Ukraine delegation and the Ukrainian football body said it did not have an eligible team for the match. Ruslan Malinovskyi, Sergiy Kryvtsov and Junior Moraes, and coach Ivan Bashtovy tested positive for the virus. Three other players on the Ukraine squad -- Dmytro Riznyk, Eduard Sobol and Yevgen Makarenko -- contracted the virus Monday. Timo and Rudi played against Ukraine 3 days ago
November 18, 20205 yr Just don't have a good feeling about this one. Never seem to do well away to Newcastle, and its the early kick off after an Intl break. I hope Silva plays, but think Lamps will rest him. Chilwell sounds doubtful, and no indication of Kai yet (other than he loves his dog). The covid concerns with Ukraine are far from ideal also. Can we just play football! Reece will be fresh, Mount present, Ziyech waving his left foot, and Mendy can build a wall in Newcastle. Just win and come home!
November 18, 20205 yr Come on Chelsea! Yes, I know it’s only Wednesday morning. Strong coffee this morning ? Edited November 18, 20205 yr by erskblue

Newcastle away always makes me anxious as well. And this time it doesn't help that half our squad if not more have been away on international duty where every team seem to have a corona case. Oh, well, if Kai's puppy gets a start partnering Kante we'll be fine

Don’t like the early fixtures if your at game, as less time for pre match beer, but if you win nothing better, and post match beers are lovely while watching the 3pm scores come through

November 18, 20205 yr Havertz and Pulisic both out for this game. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8961745/Kai-Havertz-Christian-Pulisic-set-miss-Chelseas-trip-Newcastle.html
November 18, 20205 yr Pulisic and Havertz likely to miss the game according to the generally reliable Simon Johnson. Still a question mark over whether Silva will be available having played for Brazil last night and not likely to be back in England by Friday. Chilwell has trained with England despite going off with a back injury the other night. Hopefully he sits out England's meaningless fixture tonight. Mendy James - Zouma - Rudiger - Emerson Kante Kovacic - Mount Ziyech - Werner - CHO

November 19, 20205 yr Mendy James Zouma Tomori Azpilicueta Jorginho Kante Kovacic Ziyech Mount Werner All in form.
November 19, 20205 yr He didn’t rule out Havertz I don’t think? Which is a plus. I guess it depends how he trains
November 19, 20205 yr He didn't rule him out, no. But it also didn't sound like we should maybe expect anything from Kai just yet. Glad he is out of quarantine and back to training; even if it is on his own. I would probably use caution with Chilwell, if I was Lampard. Back injuries can be a tricky creature but I would trust the medical staff. Looking forward to seeing Chelsea back on the pitch Saturday.
November 19, 20205 yr Lampard said in his press conference that he has only been training with 4 first team players for the past two weeks with most of those that were on international duty not due to arrive back until today. Absolutely ridiculous to ask any team to prepare for a game in 1 day and then ask them to travel to an away fixture that is almost the furthest distance any team has to travel and then for it to be a lunch time kick off. The scheduling this season is a joke for teams involved in Europe.

Very hard to make a lineup now that so many players are in great form... I would change to this because of CHO: Mendy James Zouma Tomori Azpilicueta Kante Kovacic Mount Ziyech CHO Werner Sub in: Werner, Jorginho, Emerson Jorginho is a good form just like Kante but Kante scoring from open play takes the edge there, Giroud did score just like Werner but Werner's work rate is just a must have.

November 19, 20205 yr i think that this could be Tomori's chance to stake a regular chance in the line up due to so many away on international duty, he needs to grasp it with both hands. mendy james tomori zouma chilwell jorgi kova haverts ziyech tammy cho mason needs a rest and id also rest werner and kante
