"As a general rule both Pisces and Aries people are squat and hairy, with a distinct, gamey odour and are dull of wit"

A quote from the original astrological treatise of the Venus tablet of Ammisaduqa, translated from the Sumerian by Walcher of Malvern and critiqued by Thomas Aquinas as "that's bang on, that is!"

Sounds like me to be fair... :laugh2:

Seems automatic that Giroud should start given his goal but I wonder if Tuchel will set us up like against Liverpool? Counter attack?

For the pie chart lovers out there...

Chelsea stats for all games on the 17th march

This is very helpful - thanks for sharing.  Just one addition to make this conclusive. Can we add the percentage of time we have worn blue socks on March 17 and won?

Ok this might be nitpicky but for 3 weeks now everyone in the media has been talking about "how we managed to get the invaluable away goal" and it bugs me. With 1-0 being the only scoring away result that under no circumstances allows you to "go through on away goals", the fact that the goal was scored away has no inherent value.

You may despise me for it but I'd argue we achieved an invuable away win, not goal.

I think Athletico will stick with the same game plan from the first match, defend deep and stay compact and look to hit us on the counter. If we score or if we are still level at the 70 minute mark they may open up a little but I can't see Simeone changing his tactics drastically considering the deficit is only 1 goal, he will back his team to get 1 on the counter especially considering they will have a stronger outfit in comparison to the first leg and we are likely to be weaker without Mount and Jorginho.

That is a fair point and not one I had considered before. It would be a valuable away goal if we drew 1-1 or even lost 2-1. But 1-0 is better since it is a win.

spot on!

My predictions for the rest of the CL.... Real Madrid will lose 2-1 AET tonight and afer we draw with Atletico 1-1 we get drawn up against Atalanta. Liverpool can get KO'd by PSG in the qtrs, I reckon Bayern to KO dortmund, man city to KO Porto. Chelsea to play the winners of PSG vs  Bayern in the Final after beating City in the semis

First goal for us is vital but we won't be out of the woods. That away goal opportunity for them will put us under pressure all game. 0-0 please.

After recent games it is hard to imagine this being a goal fest. 0-0 would be increasingly stressful as the game goes on. I am hoping we can get our noses in front on the night and give ourselves a little breathing space. Unless it goes to penalties Athletico have to score at least twice.

We underestimate Atleti at our peril although Tuchel's style will manage some of the risk.

Glad to have Silva back for this one.  A huge match in the context of our future as a big European club. A win would put us back among the big guns.

1 goal for us makes little difference. Atletico start the game knowing they need at least 2 goals to win on regular time. That stays the same if we score just 1 goal.

Silva is not back. Tuchel talked in his press conference that he and Tammy won't be back until after the international break.

I am fairly confident in this game. The way we play suit very well in against stronger side.

Of course this is cl, one unlucky decision or dumb mistake can cost you the tie.

I will play cho Havertz Werner up top. Keep the ball all time, play the most boring football that we can play then just launch long ball to Werner or ask Havertz and cho to bring the ball forward and hopefully keep it there (we really miss Willian in this kind of game).

The key are kova and Kante. Both suited more to all action game but we need them to play slower and more conservative.
