As much as I think Mendy has been an absolute revelation the one aspect he worries me with is penalties.

Something we really need to bear in mind if the game appears to be heading that way.

Had a sneaky look on Atletico Reddit and they’re all predicting a comfortable 2 - 0 / 3 - 0 victory.

If we go to pens we go out. No Jorgi, no Mount. That is our first two pen takers missing. Add that to Werner not able to hit a barn door, Mendy being useless at saving pens and them having Oblek.

Jan is the worst among elite keepers at pens. but of course you must have confident  shoters to score one first.

Oblak is pretty awful with them aswell (went the wrong way for every pen in the 16 final IIRC) which makes decisive action all the more crucial.

Well thar helps a bit, though think they likely have better takers than we do. I would not expect Werner or CHO to score if they took one. Our best bets are Giroud (if he can make it through 120 plus minutes), Azpi, Alonso, Havertz and Emerson. 

Aside from that not sure who else I would have confidence in. Maybe James.

I’m starting to get a bit nervous now. Just think last night was such a dullfest, chelsea will try to make amends and provide some drama. Can’t see them making it look as easy as citeh made it.

I don’t think we will win the competition but reaching the last 8 would be a pleasant change. It’s been a while.

Has been said before but I believe the key here will be the discipline of Kovacic and Kante. 

As we start the game we do not need to score, they do. If they want to sit back and let us have the ball like the first game then we need to play smart keep ball and not overcommitt and leave ourselves open. Would make for a boring game but as long as we go through that is all that matters.

We we need Kante and Kovacic to be smart and protect our defence. We also need the same of our wingbacks.

If the game gets more open then we need to use our pace to look to get in behind.

End of the day of Kante and Kovacic perform to a high standard I think we get through. If they dont we wont imo.
