Jules Kounde

Featured Replies

Honestly I don't even consider this Kounde guy a necessity. Let s face it.. it's not as if we are trying to get Messi or a CR7 in his prime. Kounde is a good RCB and RB in a pinch but nothing spectacular. It was our dilly-dallying that got us into this mess in the first place. We could have made our final offer, stood by it with a deadline and take a walk when it lapsed.. Marina never negotiated like this. This is not a dishing on Boehly but he should stop negotiating from a position of weakness. We are Chelsea FFS not Westham or Everton. We should have plan b and c and move quickly when plan a fails...  We could have gotten Clauss for less than 10m. There are good options in the Laliga or Bundesliga FFS. Why are we fighting to the death for a  player who is not once in a generation talent?????

Isn't tapping up players like Barca does illegal?

I mean if the reports are true, we offered Koundé financial terms he would accept and made Sevilla an offer which they accepted for a transfer and they want the transfer to be done quickly, but Xavi the manager of Barca personally seduced Koundé to wait for them to match our offer and somehow Sevilla is okay with that, that Barca a direct league rival of them blocked their record sale via tapping up the player, without even making an acceptable offer for him themselves, or even being capable of that right now?

I don't know the relationship between the clubs Barca and Sevilla, but if I would be the sporting director of Sevilla the only way I would even entertain the idea of selling the player to Barca in this situation would be if they pay massively over the odds for him, otherwise report them to the UEFA, FIFA or whoever is responsible for transfer regulations.

It is a real headscratcher to me how this behavior of Barcelona is accepted, when they clearly interfere with other clubs operations.

Kounde is arguably the most ideal to play RCB in Tuchel's system. He's essentially another #6 with the way he progresses the ball.

Let's not hype up his transfer then all of a sudden revert to "he was never good anyway" to save face.

Jules Kounde is going to tell both the Sevilla management and Chelsea tonight that he has rejected Chelsea's offer of contract and only wants to go to Barca.

While this will upset us no end it will likely enrage Sevilla as they do not like to delay business.

We are. Accept it. Him leaving to join the squad basically confirmed it. Gvardiol with his release clause will be something astronomical. We are better off going after Pavard for that RCB spot. Koulibaly LCB.

We've been well and truly mugged off this entire window.

Pavard would be hugely deflating. He’s not very good. One worldie at the WC is all he’s ever done.

Again, its just such a bad look from Boehly to sack Marina immediately instead of waiting until the window is over.

We've looked clueless and desperate this entire summer.

Could be worse, our only signings could be Lukaku and Saul after a CL win and going in to the season thinking those two could have us challange for the title 🤣

And yet we signed 2 quality players early in July. A month before we signed anyone last summer. I don’t get all the negativity around our dealings. We are in on deals, not f**king around with the prices, and it just so happens a couple players are choosing other clubs.

Nobody talks about how Koulibaly chose us over Barcelona, but that’s a fact.

C'mon. We still won trophies with them

Only reason why Koulibaly chose us was agent Mendy and Jorghino, his buddies

A couple?

De Ligt chose Bayern

Raphinha chose Barcelona

Kounde chose Barcelona

Lewandowski chose Barcelona.

Gnabry preferred contract extension

Dembele preferred contract extension

We are jumping around target after target seeing who would stick.

Sterling is the only player who was an absolute priority, and its a bloody miracle we managed him at the rate.

Gvardiol is not an option. He’s too good for the level that Chelsea are at right now. We’re not a Tier 1 club no matter who we think we are; to put it in other terms. We’re the Royal Marines, while the others were competing with are SF. We all want to be SF but it takes a certain breed to get there. We were hovering around selection when we were winning titles but never passed; winning the UCL was us passing the briefing course but now we’ve got to go back on selection if we’re gonna cut the mustard.
Unfortunately with our current crop, it’s like going on selection with an injury, it’s not gonna happen unless you slam ‘brufen every 4 hours. We need to paper the cracks with ‘brufen and maybe then we might have a shot at dining on the elite table again.

Our lesson in all this then is don't compete with or try and sign players from Barca and Bayern, and be thankfully, or not depending on if you rate him, that neither Bayern or Barca wanted Sterling.

Why does the reason matter? He still chose Chelsea

You don’t think we get rejected by players every window? I don’t think we made a real attempt for the bottom three on that list. de Ligt, we bowed out when it was clear he wanted to go to Bayern, seems smart to me.

It is not like we are losing players to Granada and Stuttgart. It’s Barcelona and Bayern, 2 bigger clubs than Chelsea. I don’t see the same reasons to panic. We are active in the market and deals will get done. 2 already have, and like I said, this time last year we hadn’t signed anyone.

If Kounda goes to Barcelona then maybe we should stop chasing CB targets. Going after your top choices is one thing, but ending up going after option 17 usually isn't great either. Hopefully Kounde comes through, but I don't see the point in throwing big money at someone who wasn't even a top choice. Just doing the same stupid transfer bullsh*t we were doing before if we do that

I paid a woman in Amsterdam to show me some love. When I was done after 3 minutes she rolled over and looked at me and said ‘how do you wanna pay for this love, cash, credit card, PayPal, or your tv rights for the next 25 years?’ I smiled and said ‘the Barcelona package please’
