August 11, 20214 yr Finally, our most expensive ever signing has justified himself...hours before he becomes the second most expensive ever signing

August 11, 20214 yr Deserved in the end, but made it much harder then it needed to be. Kovacic and Pulisic spend way to long time on the ball, just pass the ball to a teammate, instead of running it over to them and make a sloppy pass under pressure. Kovacic lost it that way countless times outside our own box.

August 11, 20214 yr The irony of football, 2 years ago Kepa refused to came off and cost us the game ( although he did apologize and probably forgiven), today he came on and won the game. The football god finally smiled at him, who knows, he maybe the golden glove winner this season 😅 Poor game, huge setback for the team and Ziyech as he's clearly the best since pre-season, first official game for a long season so let's cut everyone a bit of slack. Lukaku better plays on Saturday as we still couldn't finish off good defensive teams.

August 11, 20214 yr We had 3 captains today, Kante, Jorginho and Azpilicueta. They should all lift the trophy together 😄 Edited August 11, 20214 yr by Scott Harris

Offense wasn't fluid, but I don't think you can say it was dire. With Lukaku, we hopefully see the end of the false 9 experiment, and now we have THE guy to put it in the net. I think it will take pressure off the wingers and attacking midfield to have to convert and they can focus on creating. The byproduct is they will be more likely to convert with mental pressure decreased. Biggest worry is the schedule is harsh to start the season -- Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Man City. Nothing like throwing them in the cooker and seeing how the attack gels. Think the Pen Shootout win might actually be good thing -- get to overcome some adversity. Edited August 11, 20214 yr by PetrCechYourself

He sees them everyday, he will be able to judge who is better at penalties... Just because Mendy is the better allround keeper but that doesn't mean he's better at saving penalties, just like the best players aren't always the best penalty takers. Of course who wins the penalty shootout also depends on many other factors, but if you can increase the probability of winning you'd be stupid not to do it. And if Mendy doesn't make that first stop we lose the final.

The last thing we want to do is give you ground early doors. dont panic Edinburgh, we got this, we will win the league late on, the very last game, after being 2nd and 3rd all season, we pip city and pool on the final day,

August 11, 20214 yr Unai Umery probably hates Chelsea a lot. We beat him in Europa Cup final and now the Super Cup. Don't remember if he ever got a result against Chelsea with Arsenal.

August 11, 20214 yr OK so what did we learn from tonight....(i) still have some work to do on fitness and sharpness (ii) Still can't create anything within 20 yards out (hopefully Lukaku will change that ) (iii) 'its not the size that matters, it how you use it' = the goalkeeper with the shortest arms is the best goalkeeper for £74 million 🤥 (iv) Alonso's price just went up and will be hard to sell him this window (v) TT is the luckiest bastard in football pulling off a masterstroke last minute sub...we have to win the league this season now surely? (vi) all Germans can't score penalties... (vii) Chabolah deserves to stay with the squad (viii) Tammy will never touch another trophy in his life if he goes to Arsenal
