August 20, 20214 yr I think it's fantastic Trevoh is going to stay and be involved this season. Never considered the top talent in his academy class but proving that with hard work and determination you can achieve your dreams. I think very, very few predicted he was going to be a part of this seasons squad a month ago.
August 20, 20214 yr It shows sometimes hard work and being in the right place at the right time can often be whats needed to get your opportunity.

About right place at the right time - well he did fend off a lot of competition, Marc Guehi, Tomori, Malang Sarr, Probably Zouma too.. i would say right place right time is when there is no competition -
August 20, 20214 yr Well Zouma had a whole half season under TT to prove his worth for "the system". Who knows what Tuchel saw already last season - pretty sure he didn't start being interested who's fooling around in the academy with the first session of this years pre-season. Especially since some of his top-players are coming from that very academy. But still, right time right place with a bit of luck..that's true for a lot of stuff and certainly how a lot of footballers come through.
August 21, 20214 yr It is brilliant for us if Chalobah stays with the team. For him it is good if he also plays. If he keeps getting sidelined it is not optimal. Anyway it is brilliant to see him emerging from the loan-roulette. I don't see the loan system that negatively than many. It is something only we do and we are pretty successful as a club.

In a back 3 your ball playing CB is in the middle, that is why it’s either Silva/Christensen. As for Trevor I disagree with the theory that he has been super safe. He has been comfortable in possession and made forays into the opposition half. In the small sample size he looks more comfortable that Rudiger on the ball. Personally would start him against Arsenal, and going forward it’s his position to lose. I admit Rudiger might be a bit hasty sometimes under pressure but he is okay on the ball and what is underrated of him is his ability to sort of be a type of quarterback. He is pretty accurate and right putting those long balls. Especially last season he was very good in every sense. Trevor's mainly been safe. Against Palace we already had the game in the bag so he had the courage to make some runs. His goal was epic as well. But if you are saying he is trying to make plays from the back you are stretching it. Not saying he can't but at this time of his career he does what he can. This is why I am not surprised we are hunting Kounde who could actually bring an attacking dimension to our game. We are trying to improve the squad. If you look at Thiago Silva you can see how to be safe defensively and make the right moves for attack. He is such a brilliant and intelligent footballer you just marvellous sometimes how simple and effortless everything he does looks. Trevoh's done everything right and he deserves his spot but people need to put it into perspective.

Not to mention some decent showing in the pre-season games against our London rivals. we have some tough fixtures ahead so I suspect we will have a better idea about him after the next month. But his quality has been encouraging so far.
August 28, 20214 yr So then we got to see him for a short period in midfield. What do we think against one of the countries best sides?

Too short a period to tell, and not in normal situation. He does have a nice touch. Big big decisions to be made by Chelsea management because no-one could be surprised if Kante misses large parts of the season. We were, in my opinion, lucky to get Kante fit through the Champions League final. If we just rely on Jorginho and Kova, the odds are that the extra work load will result in them getting overworked/injured as well. Must have cover there, and cover that will get to play a bit. Is it Chalobah? Unfortunately we don't really have time to try it out. Its either a yes or a no and if its a no then fast action required.
August 29, 20214 yr It showed big faith by Tucel to put Chabolah on at the end. Taking Jorginho off as well. Looks like Tuchel really trusts him. As others said, it was hard to tell given the timing and circumstances but pleased he came on.
August 29, 20214 yr Hard to tell if Chalobah works in midfield from yesterday’s minutes. It’s down to Tuchel to say it to the board, and there’s not much time left to bring in cover. Should have never loaned Gilmour in the first place, as some in here already said. He’d be getting minutes and games with Chelsea and would have developed much better under Tuchel.
August 29, 20214 yr Since we play 343, we need 2 mids who are super good on ball, so I dont think he can play there in a normal match. Yesterday was all about securing the draw.

He was in midfield in his loan spell there. Problem we have guys is we cannot have someone as good as Kovacic and Jorgi being happy as a forth choice I feel. They all know Kante is the man. So is like having a CHO as back up for the wide attacker roles. He is good but he knows if Havertz, Mount, Pulisic, Werner and Zyiech are fit He has no chance cause they are, at the moment, better than him.
August 29, 20214 yr @frendz "Since we play 343, we need 2 mids who are super good on ball, so I dont think he can play there in a normal match. Yesterday was all about securing the draw." Agreed. He's a very good option to help out from the bench on various positions or playing the RCB as a starter but I don't see him as one of our mids as a starter. Edited August 29, 20214 yr by weetee
August 29, 20214 yr Funny all this concern of IF we lose 2 of Jorgi, Kante and/or kovacic for an extended period but very few are looking at our biggest problem that will cost us a lot of points, namely Kepa being mendys replacement during the ACoN for several big games.

Don't forget our first signing of this season, the great... give me a minute while I look up his name.
September 12, 20214 yr Thought he struggled in the first half yesterday but I really do think Saul wasn't doing him any favours with his positioning and passes. Looked a lot more comfortable in the second half and he doesn't look out of place in the team right now. Does make you wonder if it's got Tuchel and the club second guessing about going back in for Kounde.

Let's see if he can perform consistently at a high level.

Think that depends more on Ruidger and his contract situation, as well as how well Mbuyamba recovers from his bad injury. If we lose Ruidger we will need to replace him, as we may not have Silva next season either. Though he and Ruidger were solid, Silva much better imo. Biggest disappointment with Trev for me is when he got forward his passes were hopeless, he showed against Palace he is better than that.

Villa are a much better side than Palace. I won't judge Chalobah too harshly, I thought he was let down pretty badly by CHO and Saul who contributed to our right hand side looking very vulnerable in the first half yesterday and it's no coincidence that all our subs were for that side of team yesterday.

Defensively I think he was solid. If TT could have made 5 subs I expect Ziyech would have been hooked as well.
September 23, 20214 yr Another decent outing form Chalobah last night, this time tasked with playing in the centre of the three.

In round 4 would not mind seeing him moved to midfield and us go a 3-5-2, allowing Mbuyamba a game. Something like Kepa Mbuyamba Silva Sarr James Barkely Chalobah RLC Chilwell Havertz Werner
