In that case swap Jorginho and Kante, Dave can do a decent job on the left too but I know he's primarily on the right.

Don't think RLC deserves another start after he played well against Saints?

I go with experience to get the win since Chalobah is young and Rudiger and T.Silva are out. Basically this is the strongest lineup I could think of unless you want to put in Alonso instead of Chilwell.

Fair enough.

Incidently Taylor must be a happy bunny right now, already making headlines:

Those are some known people to me too, Khalid, Benson and that CFCdaily twitter account...

I guess it's impossible to not think about the ref ahead of this game, he loves his Manchester and has been controversial against us already too many times. Still I hope that there is another reason why he was given this game, to show that he is not biased against us, at the expense of poor Brentford, just so that he can later on continue with his usual behavior.

James                            Chilwell

             Werner Mount

                  Lukaku

Plan A

                      Mendy

Azpilicueta Christensen Chalobah

            Jorginho Kante

James           Mount           Chilwell

             Havertz

                     Lukaku

Plan B

                      Mendy

Azpilicueta Christensen Chalobah

             Jorginho  Kante

James           Mount          Chilwell

            Havertz  Werner

I would start with plan B personally, plan A is what Brentford will be expecting and to some degree will prefer as it's straight forward, keep Lukaku with his back to goal and ask him the question 'can he make the ball stick', because he has struggled with his back to goal and poor first touch in the last 5-6 games.

i feel like we should start with RLC and bring on Kanté for him later in the game to kill the game. I feel it must be a mental blow for any team to see a fit kanté coming on in the 60th minute if you are chasing the game.

                           Mendy

            Chalobah Christensen Azpi

James**                                               Chilwell

                     Kova  RLC*

            Mount              Werner

                     Lukaku

*(kanté on around 60th)

** James could go into midfield position to match brentford mid 3, transforming us into a back 4. Or we might see James or Azpi coming off for jorginho or another midfielder depending on who starts.

also becomes obvious that we don't have a natural back up for the left cb position

Dave  played two hard competitive games in the break, gains the best left side attackers in Italy  and France and did well. It’s still asking a lot of him to turn up again against brentford. It’s complicated with Silva and Rudigier out but  you could play Reece and cho on the right side of defence.

Maybe he will return to malang sarr? (For the left centre back). He will have been training with tuchel the last 2 weeks so maybe he will trust him to do a good job

Exactly the 11 I go with, only change I could see is TT plays Trevor centeral and Andreas on the left because they've both played those roles for us before, don't think Trev has started lcb yet. That doesn't mean it won't work but, Tuchel may favour familiarity for this one.

Werner has to play no question for me. Brentford play a high line this could be another back and forth game like the previous one vs Southampton even before the red.

Mason hasn't started alongside Werner and Lukaku yet and I think this is the perfect opportunity to start what on paper looks like our best front 3 at the moment.

Romelu should have recovered, hence why he was rested for the last international game so he could make this game.

Regarding my boy Kai, supposedly he's yet to have passed to Lukaku in the league which I seriously doubt even if it is 'Sky's official' stats, I'm sure they've missed a couple.

Either way the chemistry isn't fully there yet but, there's plenty of time to build it. He sits on the bench for this one and comes on 60-75min mark for me if we need a spark or someone to close out the win.

Maybe we will see a change of system.

There are only three (central) defenders left, so the change from 3-4-3 to 4-2-3-1 is forced if something happens to one of the three defenders during the game anyways.

So why not change the system from the beginning ?

There are Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, RLC, Saul AND Barkley for only 2 spots in the midfield in the 3-4-3.

With a 4-2-3-1 you can use 3 midfielders of the six midfielders in the line-up.

Will be interesting to see if Tuchel has similar thoughts.

No chance. He hasn't played competitive football in a while. Absolutely no need to take a risk with him today, especially after that performance in the League Cup.

lets hope not, but tuchel has suprised before. I mean if there ever was a slight chance of Sarr to play it will be today with 2 cb's out.

I’m sure Tuchel would pluck some unknown from the academy or play Reece/Alonso/Mount/Kepa at CB before ditching the formation!

This is a tricky fixture.Brentford seem to cause lots of problems to teams at home. See arsenal and Liverpool.

given the injuries this is what I would go with

mendy

chalobah christensen azbi

james kante jorginho alonso

mount werner

lukaku

azbi can play left back so I would put him in there instead of rudi

Good chance to see what the future of our defence looks like today lads. Especially if Rudi doesn't sign. We know Andreas will and you can bet Azpil will too. Regardless of whether we sign Koundé this is a realistic look at our defence without the aging Silva and our top performer Toni.

Fingers crossed we pass the test, this is a game we could really do with Toni, this attack of Brentford will attack with pace and power, I can see them trying to bully our defence especially when the ball is hung up high. I expect a good contest throughout each department of both teams.

This lineup could shift to a 442 with James dropping in at rb, Mount dropping into midfield and Werner pushing up alongside Rom.

I could see this being the most likely line up the only thing I'm unsure of is the side of the back 3 Trev and Dave play.

Curveball would be James rcb, Andreas cb and Trev lcb and he decides to go with Azpil at wb alongside CHO or Ben on the otherwise.

Have to admit if there was ever a game to play a back 4 it would be this though. We now have the midfield to accommodate it. I'm more than happy to play 343 however, Ruben has been a revelation recently and I think a fit Ruben and Mason completely boss this midfield in front of a Kante Jorgehh/Kova pivot. 4231 with Ruben in atk Mason and Timo either side would be interesting.

Better yet play 343 with Timo up top ans Mason and Ruben just behind we should dominate midfield with that not to mention Mason and Ruben would look to play Timo in quickly rather than slow the play down.

Mendy

Chalobah - AC - Dave

James - Kante - RLC - Chilly

Mount Lukaku Timo

Intentionally have Dave covering Rudigers position give the time he played left back, and keep Chalobah where he is most comfortable.
