But I still think we can beat Real. PSG controlled Real for majority of both legs. The ONLY reason why Real Madrid went through because PSG pulled a late-Wenger Arsenal. A soft underbelly and crumbled so quickly. And this isn't the first time PSG did this in the CL. We will not switch off easy like PSG. Edited March 18, 20224 yr by Mana
March 18, 20224 yr I think Bayern vs City final. We've shown we can compete with Liverpool and City when it matters, but unfortunately we seem to have dropped a level since last season's CL campaign. Edited March 18, 20224 yr by enigma

March 18, 20224 yr On our side of the draw is all the teams we beat last year to win thr cup. Atletico, Real, and Man City. Issues could arise facing Man City over two legs, but thats all if buts and maybes at this point. On a side note though how lucky are Liverpool. Benfica and then Villarreal/Bayern. Be braced for quadruple talks for the next month minimum.

March 18, 20224 yr I think Benfica are being written off quite casually, but they just beat a very good Ajax side managed by Ten Haag. I'm pretty sure Ajax were one of the faves after the group stage. Liverpool are good, but just think people have been too fast to write off Benfica's chances.
March 18, 20224 yr Good draw in general, hard to say who goes all the way from here. Athletico vs City is not a full gone conclusion yet, expect Simeone to pose a different type of threat. Usually when City play against teams that sit deep but counter clinically they struggle, case in point spurs. On the other side of the bracket assuming it's Liverpool vs Bayern that could go either way. Of the big 4 teams we could have played would have taken real all day, shows how far they've fallen or perhaps how much we've risen that we look forward to the clash.

No easy games full stop but especially not at this stage of the competition. I just feel out of the 8 teams left, Benfica arent very strong. Listen i think if we faced Villarreal we would really struggle to get through. But Benfica can be got at, and they were very lucky to get past Ajax. Id love them to beat Liverpool though.

March 18, 20224 yr Ah, a pity, tough for me to go first leg to Madrid but was hoping for an Easter trip and getting my in laws’ season ticket to go. Oh well, at least we e got now the advantage of playing second leg at home and the possibility that tickets will be sold by then.
March 18, 20224 yr City vs Atletico isn’t a foregone conclusion, city fold in the CL, we could realistically play the two teams we beat to get into the final last year, where I think if we do we will be facing Bayern. Real/Atletico or city/Bayern that’s some route to the trophy.

Well it looks like Real Madrid got what they wanted, the fixtures won’t be reversed.

Shame that we won’t have supporters at home, I hope that the situation will be resolved by the second leg and we can have fans travelling so I can meet up for a few drinks before kick off.
March 18, 20224 yr Getting Real again is tricky. Last season they were ran into the ground with multiple injuries. Here's hoping Tuchel can blindside Carlo Liverpool with a huge advantage. Benfica need to dig deep and hit them hard to even have a chance of penalties. Bayern vs Villareal will be attacking vs defending football. City vs Atleti will be extreme possession vs extreme sh*thousery.
March 18, 20224 yr City vs atletico is an interesting tie. Bayern should get past Villareal Pool will thrash Benfica as they did Porto. Gives them a huge advantage to rest players against them and save them for City in the league, draw has been super kind to them this time. Our tie us balanced, either side could go through, 50/50
March 18, 20224 yr Rewatching the highlights of the Real Madrid v PSG game, it was so much about Mbappe's individual talent. Mbappe was the most threatening in those games, but especially the home leg. I think if we can play as a team like we can, we can beat RM. They struggled against PSG, and especially Mbappe and his pace in behind. We will probably need to use the pace to get in behind, so possibly Werner to play up top alongside Havertz and Pulisic/Mount (?). It was more a case of PSG losing that tie, rather than Real Madrid doing anything special to win it. Edited March 18, 20224 yr by enigma
March 18, 20224 yr Happy with the glamour tie. Happier if our fans are allowed in to the game. With away goals gone being at home second is an advantage but does not always work out. All 4 ties this week the away side went through. Far less happy about Pools draw but lady luck of firmly smiling on them. Unless we both make the final nothing we can do about them.
