I disagree. We only played City once in the final and deservedly one but didn't absolutely batter them. I can't see any psychological advantage over them. It will be the other way round seeing how they dealt with us in the league.

We have matched Liverpool 3 times this season. I would rather play them.

We didn't batter them but we were deserved winners and had more clear chances even not counting for the goal.

And the league compared to a big UCL night are totally different ball games, not only for the reason i've given but also if we get them then this time we (hopefully) won't have Lukaku anywhere near the lineup. 

Don't get me wrong I think we're more than capable of knocking out Liverpool too but I for sure feel City have a mental block in Europe.

Liverpool and us have been the best performing English teams in Europe in the past 20 years.

Manchester City need to win a Champions League trophy to be spoken about in the same manner.

We certainly need the team to be fit to challenge. James, kova, Silva, Kante, Jorginho all neede.  Each of Real, Liverpool and City are better than last season. We are clearly on a level with Liverpool when everyone is fit as we showed in the league cup and so far just a bit behind city. 

no one really knows what Bayern are like because they haven’t played anyone good. But the injury to Goretzka has set them back  

I’ve watched real quite a bit, they are better than last year but still an ageing team although looking at Modric you wouldn’t know it. What a player, same for Benzema.

We should be, but we aren't, as we're playing like crap. Even though we've won our last 10 games or so (I'm still in denial about the League Cup final) we didn't play any team that's of CL quarter final calibre. We really need to raise our game, and Reece needs to be fit, and Kanté and Thiago Silva need to stay fit. Then perhaps....

Everytime I watch the draw we get the toughest opponents that's in.

Everytime I don't because of work duties or simply because I forget about it we get accessible ones.

Tonight I have a night shift so I will mos def sleep tomorrow at noon when the draw is on.

Hope we get Benfica, Villarreal or Atletico.

Chelsea vs Real

Liverpool vs City

Villareal vs Bayern

Atletico vs Benfica

 

I would take that, so long as the semi draw was against Benfica or Atletico. 

Let's hope they get the draw right this time with no reruns like last year.

Would be such a high if we did knock them out. In the CL it would be very tough, they are a different animal in it.

Given where the venue of the final got moved to would be even more amazing if we could go on and beat PSG in the final...oh wait...

I think city having got to the final and lost last year will be desperate and determined this year. They will prioritize the cl over the pl. my hope is that with them and liverpuddle going so hard at it in the league one or both will fade a bit .liverpuddle have less depth. 
 

Prefer an easier draw of course, that's logical.

However, Chelsea have beaten 5 of those 7 possible opponents in European finals, so nothing at all to fear.

Indeed. Happy to be in the hat and will take whoever comes. While we have TT in charge and Silva at the back no one will look at us as an easy mark.

They seem almost destined to meet in the ucl, considering they are competing for the league. 

Personally at this point despite the obvious presence of Villareal and Benfica there are no easy teams at this stage. To get the rub of the green and to avoid any of City, Bayern or Liverpool would be ideal. They would be the hardest opponents to overcome yet its still do able. 

My ideal match ups

There will be at least one blockbuster match in the quarters very likely there will be 2. For the mutual I would love Bayern vs Real another Don Carlo's team he's come back to take out. 

City vs Liverpool would be good but that sounds like a semi or a finals considering the rivalry although they did meet in the quarters all those years back and that's when the modern rivalry between them really ignited further. 

I think benfica vs Athletico would be the next match I wouldn't mind seeing and then finally the super cup rematch would be ideal for me. Both teams get another crack at each other after a stalemate of 120 mins previously. 

Still I would love to see all 3 English teams make it through to the semis so avoiding each other is essential and then Bayern also so it's the best 4 teams from an entertainment pov that would be great. As a Chelsea fan I want them to take each other out in the quarters City v Liver, Real vs Bayern 😂

 

Its draw time. Hopefully we get lucky but i doubt it. Lightening already struck twice with us getting Lille twice.
