April 4, 20242 yr At this point what does it matter if he is fit before the season's end or not, we've got f**k all to play for anyway and once City dumps us out of the cup, it'll just become official. I also feel people here have turned Nkunku into some sort of messiah who's supposed to come back from the dead and make everything allright. Personally I haven't seen anything particularly mind-blowing from the man in that little time he actually was fit and available. I guess we'll just have to wait and see till at least next August to decide what he's capable of, that is if he actually manages to stay fit past preseason for a change. That's incredibly harsh on Nkunku. He was out for 5 months before playing a single game for the club. He's played a total of 319 minutes of Premier League football, which is less than 4 full games. Expecting something mind blowing is a crazy expectation when you factor in that he was trying to build match fitness, play with a new team, in a league he has never played in and playing in an unfavoured position. Look at James. He's rated as one of the most talented players at the club, but he's been poor for a while now, and injuries are the reason for that.
April 4, 20242 yr Nkunku is just another sick note. What use is any player who cant stay fit. We'd do well to sell him and reece james in the summer

Fofana, James, Chukwuemeka, Lavia, Colwill, Chilwell, Nkunku, Ugochukwu, Sanchez, Badiashile, Chalobah, all of them have missed most of the season. Before they played for us, only Fofana was picking up regular injuries. We're the problem, not the players.

N'kunku had 4 different injuries and was out for 135 days missing 22 games last season Scott. I did mention this in threads before we signed him. Over the course of the last two seasons he has missed 27 games just through knee problems.

Over the course of the last two seasons he has missed 27 games just through knee problems. It was only one season though. Every other season in his career he has been fine. And he only missed 13 games for Leipzig last season and fully recovered and was straight back to his best afterwards. I wouldn't class that as injury prone. It's at Chelsea where these players pick up injuries and become injury prone. Edited April 5, 20242 yr by Scott Harris
April 22, 20242 yr Back in partial team training. In other words no contact, outside ball work. I don't expect we see much, if anything, from him for the rest of the season. And a hunch with no rumours just a gut feeling, at his age (26, 27 is November), I reckon he tries to keep himself out of the team to stay fit and look for a move to a CL side.

What team, Other than us with Fofana, is stupid enough to pay £45m+ for player that's just missed an entire year of football?

If any CL club wants Nkunku I'll drive him there myself.

It’s obvious he is one of our best players and most likely will play on same level as Palmer. Yeah, we haven’t seen any of that this season but shall we give him a chance first? Imagine selling him this summer and he’s banging them in for another PL team. We’d look like clowns.

What's most likely is he gets injured next year, and the year after. I'd rather a good player that plays 40 games a season than a world class one who plays 10.

Next season will be interesting for sure. I don’t think Poch knew what to do with Nkunku in his lil cameo this season; played him as CF, and moaned about missing a player who knits the midfield and forwards after the match in the one game he played him as a 10. For his & our sake just hope he is available and fit for preseason.

There's nothing to say he's one of our best players and nowhere did he say sell him to a league rival??

He's virtually one of the only players we bought that was ready made talent, scored plenty of goals for Leipzig in the Bundesliga and in the CL including a hat trick against Man City. Obviously he is better than Jackson, Madueke and Mudryk currently (injuries aside). Yeah I've just realised I wrote premier league rival and not champions league rival.

United, City and Liverpool have all had similar injuries to us this year. Nkunku missed half the season at Leipzig before he joined us. The chance of him getting 50 g/a anywhere is zip in my opinion. But my main point was really the incredulity of the idea that HE might try to leave. No one is going to bid 60m for him.
April 23, 20242 yr Didn't see anything this season from Nkunku to suggest he's on Palmers level. Hope that changes next year though!
April 23, 20242 yr Apparently he's considering signing a contract with the BBC to play a permanent part in their long running Saturday night TV show "Casualty".

This is under the assumption that he's gonna be a sicknote for the rest of his career rather than just having an unlucky spell with injuries. Any consideration if selling him for what we paid for him would be a really poor decision in my opinion.

Well one has played 394 minutes of football for us and starting 2 games, the other has played 3,196 and started 34 games for us so I imagine that's why. I don't know where this notion that once a player has an injury hit season or 2 they're worthless. I get there's frustration with the injuries Nkunku, Fofana, Lavia and James have had this season, I'm sure they're far more pissed off than we are but we owe them the chance to get through the injuries issues because I don't doubt that top teams would be queuing up if we were trying to flog them on the cheap in the summer.
