August 6, 20223 yr COnsidering how bad off they are, if we are interested, I hope we just offer them £1. They want him off their wage bill, so screw them. Don't give them any money.

August 6, 20223 yr There's no point negotiating with Barca. We need to turn De Jongs head. Offer him 400K a week. Make him only want us. Promise him everything. Then offer Barca 15m on the deadline they need to sell him to register their signings.

August 6, 20223 yr They’re all having a meltdown on redcafe, it’s f**king hilarious. They’ve all turned in to sports journalists and experts in tomfoolery by the looks of it; apparently it’s all a big PLOY. Funny as f**k. I don’t dislike Man United because above all, they’ve been a massive part of my childhood (even if they were the bad guys at one point); however, can’t help but find it funny that they have a thread on a forum over 1000 pages long belonging to a fcuking rumour… Only for him to end up at Barca or join Chelsea.

Offer them 70m for the two. See if they take the bait as it will sort their finances out. If they don't take the deal tough. Let's not forget these players don't want to leave there anyway so if it doesn't work out, it's no big loss.

If we are prepared to go in as hard there are plenty of other clubs that need the cash without them and the players pi$$ balling us about Is Spain really that weaker a league? Results in Europe of recent years suggest not.

August 6, 20223 yr That Gerard bloke and a few Barca sources seem to think a deal of 70mill euros plus Alonso is well in the works.

When you have their balls in your hands you have to squeeze. The longer this goes then surely we can get him for less

It sounds like Todd is done messing about though, he could have gone for weeks negotiating for Cucurella but had that sorted quickly. Even Raphinha and Kounde deals were agreed with their clubs quickly. Of course most of us would enjoy putting the squeeze on Barca, maybe TT really wants De Jong and we don't want to risk a magic lever from Barca or him deciding to go to United.

Can see Auba being done as well tbh

This window us and Barca are so intertwined with each other there could be more deals between us. I mean they need our help, or someone's help but seems we may be willing to give it, but how well will we use the situation to our advantage?

Actually I think if anything that would go against them in Europe if that was the case. In theory you're well rested but in reality it's next to impossible to coast domestically then dive straight into a do or die match at full sharpness. For example I firmly believe us being in a top four race compared to City having the league wrapped up early helped us enormously in Porto, we had competitive matches (and another cup final) right up until the end whereas they were effectively playing friendlies for a month before the big game. Furthermore the narrative of La Liga being reasonanly weak started due to Barca and Real wracking up ridiculous point totals which is exactly what City and Liverpool have been doing here in recent years.
August 7, 20223 yr According to Spanish publication Sport, De Jong’s exit is not essential as ‘economic levers’ have been activated and the club will be able to register all new signings. ECONOMIC LEVERS. lol Edited August 7, 20223 yr by TheCeleryKing
August 7, 20223 yr Who'd have thought. Bent as f**king all of them. We should only be trying to sign players that want to be here anyway.
