Casadei.

August 3, 20223 yr Ben Jacobs update: Barcelona want around €80m for Frenkie de Jong having previously agreed a slightly higher €85m deal with #MUFC. #CFC are now in direct talks. De Jong has been consistent that he wants to stay but refused to take a pay cut. He is more open to Stamford Bridge than Old Trafford. As previously reported, Barcelona will need to explicitly tell de Jong he’s not wanted and must leave, and Chelsea have asked for guarantees if they move the saga won’t drag on. Unlike #MUFC they will get player buy in early if things progress. Barca really want Bernardo Silva, and need the de Jong transfer fee and squad space to make that happen. On record, and only two days ago, Joan Laporta denied de Jong was offered to Chelsea when he met Todd Boehly and reiterated he will “do his best” to keep him at Barca. But without a significant pay cut, and due to the Silva interest, an exit still remains more likely. Thomas Tuchel is very much driving the Chelsea interest. Boehly again backing his manager and trying to pull off an ambitious signing. Won’t be easy but #CFC now exploring. Am told Chelsea have monitored de Jong situation for quite some time and initiated talks because they now believe there is an urgency by Barca to sell. De Jong himself is starting to realise his game-time will be even more limited. Xavi has spoken of using him as a centre-back yet Jules Kounde has just come in, too. Edited August 3, 20223 yr by JM7

De Jong isithink a pretty good player, faster than Jorginho, carries the ball like kova and is a gifted passer. Also scores a couple of goals a season and covers the whole field. Really a pretty complete midfielder. Him and sterling and koulibaly and cucerella would make a good window. And there will be some outgoings.

Averages about 3 assist a season though and is not as good defensively as Jorginho is. Nor is he as strong a ball carrier as Kovacic. I like him thought and think he's a good player so wouldn't mind. Some fools will no doubt piss all over him for his so called "lack" of creativity because they'll focus in on his stat sheet and so called sideways passing even if he did replace Jorginho.
August 3, 20223 yr I really don't know about this. De Jong is kinda similar to kovacic. Probably better than kova in final third. If we sign him, we will have jorgi, kante, kova, de Jong, gallagher and Ruben for 2 spot. That is way too many players.

If we sign him i expect one or both of Jorginho or Kante to go now as their contracts are up next year. Guess who i'd rather it was. I would also expect to see RLC go out thsi window with posisbly another lad replacing, posisbly thsi Carney lad.

To start with De Jong has played in defence. And then de Jong doesn’t play defensive midfield or regista I mean at Barca that is Busquets job. Then there is the speed and he is not afraid of a tackle. I like Jorginho but many say we can’t play back 4 because of his defensive shortcomings. . There is more to it than that but I think he would do well in the position. Edited August 3, 20223 yr by ozboy
August 3, 20223 yr Think this means we don't intend on extending either Kante or Jorginho if we are bringing in this many bodies in. De Jong, Kovacic, Chukwuemeka, Gallagher.
August 3, 20223 yr Give our relations with Barca are said to be not so good I will believe this one when I see it.
August 3, 20223 yr We want 25m euros for Alonso and Azpi, so give them the pair plus 45-50m euros and call it good.

Surely we’ll sell one or two them. I think we’ll look to offload Jorginho. RLC apparently doesn’t want to leave. I think you’re right. Juventus want him, and I think we can squeeze a few extra million because Jorginho isn’t going to the World Cup so his value this year is a little more.
