Brighton lad, This guy and a forward and we could be skipping down the title path IMO I know it would be a soap opera from start to finish but could you imagine redcafe if we signed de Jong and then followed up with Ronaldo
August 2, 20223 yr Let's hope we aren't bailing Barca out via taking De Jong of their hand. He's not keen to move, leave him alone.

It could also help us in that with the De Jong money Barcelona might take Bernardo Silva away from City, which in my opinion will significantly weaken them before we send them any money just make sure our other targets are already finalised though… Edited August 2, 20223 yr by azpi28

And Barca won't buy him before they've sold DeJong. Hence why it wouldn't make that much sense to gamble on a last second offer for him from our side. Unless of course we don't REALLY need him this season and just take a gamble on the whole charade. Edited August 2, 20223 yr by weetee

August 3, 20223 yr Looks like we're officially involved in the De Jong circus. Fantastic player but it seems a complicated one. Side note, Brighton are really taking the piss with their Cucurella valuation because they know we're a bit desperate at this point
August 3, 20223 yr I've no idea what the plan is here 🙂 and our squad is absolutely enormous currently! That said, certainly can't fault the ambition and the level of player we are targeting... we seem to mean business. If they all come off we'll be spending around 300m
August 3, 20223 yr So we’ll potentially have in midfield: Jorginho Kante Kovacic Gallagher Chuka De Jong RLC 7 midfielders for 2 spots? That’s crazy. Surely we’ll sell one or two them. I think we’ll look to offload Jorginho. RLC apparently doesn’t want to leave.

August 3, 20223 yr I reckon if FdJ comes Jorgi is on his way out. RLC I guess is substituted by Chukwa who should battle it mostly out with Gallagher. Next season our current midfield will eventually lose 2/3 of our starters (on a free) so would be this transfer window all over again just that we have to overhaul our complete midfield instead of defense. RLC I don't think will cut it here. He's reached his ceiling here which in patches is good to very good but also incredibly unreliable imho which is necessary for a central midfielder in our system.

August 3, 20223 yr What's this guy like? Looks like a more mobile Jorginho from the few clips i've seen. Is he fast/strong, or rather - faster and stronger than Jorginho? I actually really like Jorginho, but his weaknesses can be exposed by top sides. Would this guy let us shift into a 4-3-3? Is he capable of holding down the DM spot in a physical league? Edited August 3, 20223 yr by Hessleboink
August 3, 20223 yr With Kante and Jorginho in the last years of their contracts with both expected to leave. It seems like we can't miss on an opportunity to get a player of De Jongs caliber. If this happens I can see Jorginho taking a back seat this season.

He’s not physical as in strong he’s a lot quicker than Jorgi though and maybe a bit more offensive he’s not the Mikel type you need to play as a DM
August 3, 20223 yr He can dribble well and has a very good eye / understanding plus an elite passing game so extremely helpful in build up play. He's not a #6 so in CFC-fantasy land he'd play here next year alongside Rice ripping it up. Edited August 3, 20223 yr by weetee

Jorginho = bench, used in the right situations Kante = rotated more often as he is breaking down Kovacic = 1st choice Gallagher = bench Chuka = loaned out de Jong = 1st choice RLC = bench wingback/cm
