The rumor is they wouldn't entertain anything less than 70-80m.

That could be the starting point.

Guess we will see. Leicester seem to have dealt fairly with us in the past, even if Kante had a release clause the dealings were quick and professional.

The man with a pretty poor recent record of calling Chelsea transfers has said this one is not happening basically.

It was rumored we'd contact Leicester today or tomorrow for an inquiry.

Well if that was today Mr. Jacobs here makes it sound like we were told to pi$$ off lol.

Fofana and Kilman make sense as good, long term prospects that have a decent chance of becoming world class players.

I believe we are pasted the days we will secure such players as their fees are likely more than the new owners will go for. In theory though even accounting for Silva possibly not being with us next season it would set us up very nicely with Colwill and Koulibaly allowing to pick 3 of the 4 and form a solid, strong defence.

Kilman is 25.  He's never getting to world class level.

He's never even getting to good enough go play for a team challenging for 4th level.

Apparently Leicester need to sell to buy and no one else is really attracting any significant interest.

Could swing it in our favour.

...and another kiss of death :laugh2:

That sounds far too rational and reasoned for Chelsea.  What were you thinking. Now let's get back to the Kane, Ronaldo , Neymar triumvirate.  We can do this.

Maybe it’s best to hold off for now on defenders on focus on the attack as that’s one of a number of areas where we’re struggling.

Fixed that for you

Leicester have been my second team for quite a while due to a fair chunk of my family coming from that neck of the woods. From watching quite a lot of Fofana over the past couple of years, I'm confident that if we paid £90m for him right now then we'd still be talking about money well spent in 3/4 years' time.

A true complete centre back in the mould that are rarely made these days - highly mobile like Kounde, tall and strong like De Ligt, the perfect mental blend of composure with aggression like Van Dijk. He even makes surprisingly few mistakes for such a young player.

If he's even 1% available then we should drop everything to sign him.

I know swaps aren't a popular idea, but Leicester want a keeper. Kepa +$50M for WF?

With Koulibaly signing we have enough leadership in the defense. Fofana makes more sense than Kounde because he is big and already with Premier League experience. Other than that I know very little of him. I would imagine it would be very hard to buy him from Leicester who see us as rivals and him being just tied down with a new contract. I don't see it happening.

What about Skriniar?

Unlike us Leicester have seen Kepa play.  He helped win them their FA cup.

There's next to chance we even scouted him prior to signing him as we weren't interested in him 6 months prior when he had a £18m release clause.

We almost certainly went on a database and sorted keeper release clauses from high to low once we lost Tibo and got rejected by Allison and took the gamble the keeper with the highest release clause would at least be a talented prospect.

He wasn't.

I willnbe gladly surprised if Kepa can do some good for once by going to Leicester... Any amount we get from offloading him is a bonus for the club .

Not sure the 90m but agree he would be perfect and wonder why it’s taken so long for his name to be put forward.

His name wasnt put forward before now, because the CB roulette wheel never landed on him. I have it on very high authority (Longtime lurkers source) that we have a massive wheel of fortune style wheel, and every so often we take a spin and see who it lands on. Today it landed on Fofana. It may well be Kounde again tomorrow. We simply spin the wheel and let fate do its thing.

I read earlier that Leicester need to raise funds for incoming transfers (due to owners commiting to infrastructure) and were hoping to sell any or all of Schmeichel, Pratt, Castange and Tielmens but haven't really had any bites.

Possibly that plus our fruitless search for CB number 2 is allowing the stars to align.

Hopefully it won’t land on Tyrone Mings who could be available after being stripped of the captaincy.
