And by no means am I advocating this at all however. 55mill plus Kante. They know getting him back would mean a lot to their fans. Edited July 27, 20223 yr by axman2526

He should be worth more than whatever we were willing to pay for De Ligt. Superb talent. Hopefully they are keen on a player plus cash deal.

July 27, 20223 yr Well utd just bought the smallest central defender now in the PL Just pay the foxes the dough, Quality feeder club! Lets gooo
July 27, 20223 yr For defense, I’m at the point where I say we roll with what we have. Appoint someone who knows how to handle this stuff, and then get to work on making things happen in January— if possible — with real ambition in the summer to strengthen the squad

And any players that we were even thinking about will be at least a 3rd more of what they are now. The last couple of weeks have been like Fred Karno's Circus, Keystone Cops and Mr Bean all rolled into one. If Todd and TT decide to stick with what we have, less a few more that they might be able to sell, then he and the players need to stand up and be counted and display the talent and show the desire that we paid good money for. On paper we have a decent squad which the manager has to get kick started, or he just might find himself on the outside looking in..

Final offer Given that would get Barkley and Kepa off our wage bill I would take that if I was doing the transfers. However we are a business now not Roman's hobby so I question how much the new owners would spend. I would spend what was needed to get Fofana from you and Kilman from Wolves, them with Koulibaly or Silva makes for an impressive defence imo.
July 28, 20223 yr I'd take Fofana in a heartbeat, but not getting my hopes up at all. Pretty sure Leicester will tell us to move along - the narrative is somewhat set this window.

Chalobah is okay but is overhyped because he is from the Academy. No way would we have gone out and bought him as a starting CB. Azpi and Alonso are 2-3 years past their sell by dates and the best defender we have needs to have his minutes managed. Season starts in two weeks. If the club are serious about this season it's now time to go toe to toe with any bankrupt, corrupt club and blow these fakers out of the water.. If they want Fofana then no quibbling, go in and get it done before anyone else can react. Edited July 28, 20223 yr by WhiteWall
July 28, 20223 yr I think if we get our arses handed to us on Friday night I can see things moving rapidly and top prices being paid ✌️
July 28, 20223 yr I’d definitely take Fofana but I just can’t see it happening. We’d have to make an offer they couldn’t refuse this week ideally. We just don’t operate that smoothly and have a habit of ending up 2nd favourites in a 1 horse race. We’d make an offer late in the window which Leicester definitely wouldn’t be happy about as it would leave them short. I have a feeling we’re more likely to buy someone offered to us rather than somebody we actually want. I still think we badly need another attacker soon. Getting in a last minute transfer at the start of September could already have us playing catch up for a top 4 spot.
July 28, 20223 yr Doesnt look like Leicester will negotiate for Fofana. Would take a world record fee for a defender, and whilst i think he is good, i wouldnt pay £80m+ for him. Not sure what options we have left. I like Tapsoba from Leverkusen, not seen any links other Arsenal though. I can honestly see us ending up with either Pavard, or a right wing back like Dumfries and James play right centre back unfortunately.
July 28, 20223 yr Pavard I wouldn't mind as I rate him to be a solid option. Fofana is just giving me Rio Ferdinand vibes when he first broke into the scene. So much quality at a young age.

I am sure every player has a price but Leicester hold all the cards since he just signed a new deal. Perhaps if we had gone for him at the start of the window...

Agreed a crazy amount gets it done but I don't think we are in the business of crazy amounts anymore. Fofana is just another example of a player with bags of potential that we did not sign up before he moved to another larger club, in this case Leicester. We have not been making those Tibo, KdB, Salah type signings for a while and means we have to pay premiums to get them. Hopefully the new director of football, when he comes, fixes this. In the mean time I reckon TT goes with who he has now.
July 28, 20223 yr Been scavenging through some Leicester forums and rumors Fofana apparently has agreed personal terms with us but Leicester rejected our initial offer/valuation of the player.

Now we just need to find a Vidic or a JT to carry him. I never rated Rio. A tier below the top centre backs of his generation imo. Obviously would still be a massive improvement for us but 90m for a new Rio? No thanks. Edited July 28, 20223 yr by HazardousChoice
