Bloke can't cross or shoot and doesn't have right foot, but a fantastic defensively in the right circumstances (like playing in a team where the players know eachothers names etc.)

Cucurella will prove everyone wrong under Pochettino. He can be very good in a team that's organized and that press. The guy had to deal with severe illness and a bloody robbery of his home, give him a break.

Saying a player isn't very good is scapegoating? Come on pal, he's had one okay season playing CB for Brighton and an absolute dog sh*t time here. Not fit to lace Chilwell's boots and been outperformed by an 18 year old CM.

Early reports are circulating that Pochettino isn't a fan and happy for him to be sold already. You can't just claim someone's being scapegoated without offering any justification on that claim at all.

He was very good at Brighton, there was a reason both Tuchel & Pep wanted him.

Maybe he won't turn out here. But he's genuinely faced a lot of challenges in the past year and may very well find his form in a more settled state.

Tuchel's talent ID has been hugely questionable, not really something i'd use as a measuring stick of how good someone is. 

Funny how Pep always wants a player and ends up with someone far far better. Almost as if its a smoke screen. Wanted J5 and got Rodri instead. Wanted Cucurella and Ake had the season of his life instead.

Spot on. And just to illustrate your point this rumour is starting to do the rounds. We all know Kovacic wouldn't get anywhere near the Citeh starting lineup on a regular basis.

Completely agree, the fact he was willing to let Colwill go the other way in order to make room for Cucurella tells you all you need to know.

I'd be shocked if a side came in for Cucu this summer with an offer that makes sense for us with FFP in mind. We paid well over the odds for him and we're probably going to be stuck with him for a few more seasons before we can sell at a price that covers his book value.


I sincerely hope he improves next season, but if I'm being honest I don't see it. Technically I don't think he defends well. He dives into challenges and seems very poor at defending 1v1. I don't think a more settled system changes that. But I'd love to be proven wrong.
