March 7, 20233 yr He was very good tonight, reminded me of David luiz with the aggression and hair lol, hopefully he can continue like this , he hasn’t been good but also feel as if he’s been scapegoated a bit too.
March 7, 20233 yr For those idiots who booed him without knowing about his personal life …disgusting!!!
March 8, 20233 yr Reminder that Tuchel brought him in to be the LCB. Funny how players will look much much better when you play them in a sound system!
March 8, 20233 yr Best performance for us yesterday. Showed some good aggression in pressing and beating defending duels. One of the positives we succeed to reach yesterday. Let's hope it will stay like this.

I would have thought his primary intention was to have a second left wing back back better than Alonso/Emerson, and at a similar level to Chilwell. The versatility to play LCB as an added bonus ?

It wouldn't make sense to buy somone for that amount of money just to be a back-up. Tuchel probably saw him as a LCB to replace Rüdiger and as a back-up for injury-prone Chilwell at the same time. I have to admit I really didn't rate him at LB since arriving here but yesterday he was very good. Played with confidence and the right level of aggression. Still not convinced he is more than a back-up to Chilwell if we go back to a back 4.

Potter has played him as LCB before and he looked garbage. Last night was his best performance in a Chelsea shirt by a million miles. The biggest improvement was his forward passing.

It's like when some turned on Sterling for being a poor wingback when he should never have been put in that position in the first place. Edited March 8, 20233 yr by OriginalS

He there are some crazy fickle cats on here, you’ll learn, throw em a fish and they’ll be content…😜🤣😎
March 8, 20233 yr What a spirited showing from Marc! Excellent game from him. I personally loved his attitude more than his football but he was great and got the MOTM from being the heart of the side. Hopefully he managed to shut us up a bit. I have massively criticized him but we finally saw the reasons we bought him. Still see him as a "maximum 30m" player though.
March 8, 20233 yr I never understood the harsh criticism of him this season. Yeah he hasn't looked great, but he also came to a new club at the worse possible time for us. I always believed he needed time to adapt to the team, the club, his surroundings etc. He still needs more time, but he obviously has the talent. Will he be world class? Probably not, no, but with time I'm sure he'll be a good defender.
March 8, 20233 yr Haven't been his biggest fan by any stretch, but he was excellent last night, as was KK. He was up for it big time. Loved it when Chilwell was shoved and reacted, Cucurella was the first one piling in to back him up in the melee. Then Potter had to pull him away from confronting some of the Dortmund staff at the end.
March 8, 20233 yr Yeah worth remembering his stinkers at LCB were mainly down to the wingback being either Sterling or Pulisic. Not sure what we do with him next season.

I still have doubts over him in premier league but champions league games, he’s easily one of the first names on sheet.

One of the big advantages of a back three is being able to play two left or right backs (if one is good enough for one of the CB positions which RJ and Cucu are). We really should be exploiting that

We’d be brilliant at playing from the back, defending set pieces could be a problem though

That doesn't say he was signed to play LCB though, just that its an added bonus he can. Clearly says he was brought in to relieve the pressure on Chilwell at LWB.
March 8, 20233 yr Good performance from him last night. Still a weird signing when we've got Colwill out on loan putting in world beating performances, should have just kept him.
