Southampton v Chelsea (PL) Tues 30th Aug 2022 19:45 GMT

I hope Tuchel saw how different our players played when we were down to ten men.

One thing that stood out was we were more direct and looked for forward passes instead of passing sideways and looking for the perfect pass.

We are obviously a possession based team but we need to be making more risky forward passes to take advantage of our athletic players like kai, sterling , James , Mount and cucurella .

And why wouldn't you give Carney a few minutes. Stirling started for Liverpool quite young and was a sensation pretty much straight away.

Good read particularly comments from his school football coach.

Having watched him against City u23...not that impressed TBH.  He'll have to step up even if he makes the bench

Let's just hope for a game where none of our players have massive brain-farts ala Jorginho against Tottenham, Mendy against Leeds and Gallagher against Leicester.

That would be a start.

The team pick itself again, not via form but via players availability. Let's hope nobody does something suicidal stupid for the 3rd game in a row. We recovered well on Saturday after the sent off, but can't afford individual mistakes like that again.

That’s interesting. How do you watch the u23 games? Are they on chelsea tv?

Given Gilmour has now been given a number TT could still play 433 if he wants and that would allow him to rest Sliva as well.

Mendy

James

Chalobah

Koulibaly

Chilwell

Gilmour

Jorginho

Sterling

RLC

Pulisic

Havertz

Gilmour would be a logical choice for the DM role, given our injuries. If he has been given a squad number that suggests he will be staying with the first team this season. So there is every chance he will get some minutes tomorrow.

I suspect Cucurella will start over Chilwell though. Possible 5 at the back with Reece in the middle and RLC at RWB again.

I believe they are but they are also on YouTube live games

Could well be. I expect a midfield two of Jorgi and RLC.

I'll keep my eye out. thanks for the heads up.

Munkworth. If it’s indeed 1986, I’m going to get my old man to put a £20 double bet on Coventry City and St Mirren to win the FA Cup and Scottish Cups respectively this season… 😀

Well I only had time to watch the first 45 minutes thanks to your head up re youtube. He didn't give the ball away once, should have had an assist, looked very comfortable on the ball and made a series of good passes without being flashy. My only complaint was his non existent pressing. I'll have to watch more to get a better vibe and sure there were a number of good players on the pitch.
