September 3, 20223 yr 9 minutes ago, Backbiter said: It is a foul. The contact of Bowen's boot with Mendy is crystal clear. The pundits' view seems to be 'Bowen fouled Mendy but Mendy probably wouldn't have saved Cornet's shot so the foul shouldn't have been given.' As I was saying, here's the Guardian match report: " VAR had correctly spotted that in his follow-through Bowen clipped Mendy but the contact was slight and, in any case, the ball had already squirted several yards away and Mendy’s chances of correcting his error were slim." So he didn't kick him that hard. And Mendy is in sh*t form and wouldn't have saved it. So the goal should have stood. Free kicks shouldn't be given to teams you don't want to win.

September 3, 20223 yr Author Shearer calling it the worst decision ever by VAR. 😅 It's not even close to the worst, pillock.
September 3, 20223 yr Funny how match of the day weren’t so angry about the Tottenham farce. Oh and why no mention on the blatant foul on Loftus-cheek, ahead of the corners that led to their opening goal? How did the officials miss that? Oh and Antonio not getting sent off too. September 3, 20223 yr Massive media outrage if Chelsea ever benefit from VAR. If it goes against us it’s “oh well, you win some you lose some” from the media. Now I’m just waiting for the apology to West Ham from the referees association.
September 3, 20223 yr I am in the minority that sees a lot of positives from the game. We looked strong at the back, Gallagher is easing his way into the team. Havertz looked strong when he came on and Chiller did the biz. West Ham are quite a strong side and came to park the bus and yet we prevailed. Over the years I’ve come to realize rice is a good player.
September 3, 20223 yr Was not even VARs worst call of the day @coco. we would all be upset in West Ham position however VVD potential leg breaker not getting a red was the worst call of the weekend, by far. Such tackles can end or shorten careers.

The denial of a Leeds pen at Brentford was an absolute shocker. Oliver's stubborn refusal to overturn his decision for a pen for handball was another shocker. The decision not to red card VVD at Everton was a shocker. Shearer calling the Bowen VAR decision one of the worst in history is yet another shocker. Shockers all around.

Romero pulling Cucurella's hair, Maguire kicking Batshuayi in the balls, us having a goal ruled out when Azpi was pushed into a United player. Having a penalty chalked off for an offside that was exactly the same as goal United scored from a few days earlier. The worst one by far was Lo Celso's attempted leg breaker on Azpilicueta where the VAR team admitted during the match they got it wrong. These pundits are full of sh*t.

September 3, 20223 yr Even today I have seen worse VAR decisions. Like Van Dijk's tackle that could have broken the Everton players leg.
September 3, 20223 yr not to be forgotten is that we played 5 players new to the team this season. The “team” will improve.
September 3, 20223 yr Back from a great day out, bad decision or not we were the better team over 90 mins and deserved the win. Mendy made the most of it, but give me a keeper who wouldn’t ? There was contact with the keeper, end of, in all walks of the game contact with the keeper is not allowed or at least the benefit of the doubt goes to the keeper and with good reason worst VAR decision ever ? I would say it is close to the best, but of course I never played the game 😂

September 4, 20223 yr Ah I figured out why Shearer said it was the worst VAR call ever. Because it benefited Chelsea, and that is not supposed to happen.
September 4, 20223 yr We had 10 corners. We get a lot of corners in games, especially with our wing back formation. We need to score more goals from corners. you get 10 corners you should have a goal to show from it. We conceded a goal from a corner today. This is something that can be worked on in training. Also, we need to get more free-kicks on the edge of the box. AND who is our dead ball and free kick specialist? And Why doesnt James take corners? Edited September 4, 20223 yr by TheCeleryKing

TT just needs to find his best side quickly in my opinion Thing is there isn't a best 11 man side these days. You have to think what is my best 11 man + subs team. Who can come off the bench and grab a goal? Havertz. Who can came off the bench and bewildered the other team with energy? Maybe the Kante of the future. With all the subs these days, it really can change the game. Plan for it. Edited September 4, 20223 yr by TheCeleryKing
