There is so much rewriting of history on here of late.

Lucky to win the Champions League under Tuchel? what absolute nonsense. We were the better team throughout the tournament, we even broke records that year.

United weren't a struggling side before ten Hag took over? more nonsense. They were on a fast track to becoming the new Arsenal. They became the team everybody wanted to watch just to laugh at.

The most embarassing part is that we are now even worse than United last season. If you ask a lot of United fans, they will tell you that their team last season was the worst they had ever seen.

Well they did get smashed 4-0 by Brentford. At least we haven't had a shoeing from a team we were expected to beat this season. Oh wait, hang on.

He might not have to if we are also relegated LOL

I do admire your optimism all the same ! We are 14/1 for the CL if you fancy a little flutter with Skybet 🙂

It'd probably cost is 20m just in add ons for Mudryk.!

How about comparing Potter's first 14 matches to Tuchel's first 14 matches? Or first 50? Oh don't answer that...

Different squad though right? One had quality right through it, the latter had players winding down their contract, a lot of injuries, overpaid prima donnas.

So it's pointless comparing unless it's the last 14 and first 14.

But we are welcome to compare both managers first 100 league games at Chelsea. As I'll think Potter will have a PL title to show for it

Lampard had the same squad as Tuchel but Tuchel did a lot better with it.

Potter started just like when Tuchel took over Lampard, with the same squad the previous manager had.

If your argument is that Potter is doing the same job as Tuchel's last matches in charge, that doesn't sound as reassuring as you might think it does.

Seems a decent challenge.

100 games may be fairest as if it were the first 50 it may be a tall order for Potter to match. 64% win rate. 107 points. 31 clean sheets.

But over 100 games the bar is set at 60% win rate, 204 points, FA Cup and League Cup finalists and Champions league winners.

Potter is 0 for 2 so far, but with about 30 games played he should get another shout at the domestic cups. I think he's at about  48% win rate at about a third of the way through those 100 games.

Slight technical hitch ... Tuchel was not in charge for 100 league games. He was in charge for 100 games overall, but only 63 of those were league games.

Tuchel's PL record:

P63 W35 D17 L11 GF 109 GA 55

Potter so far is P15 W5 D5 L5 GF 14 GA 12.

To match Tuchel's record, Graham needs to go 30-12-6 in his next 48 PL games, scoring 95 goals and conceding 43.

I'll take Tuchel LOL

There is abit of give for Potter given everything that has gone on, but from the start of next season, he needs to be showing a lot more. More wins, more goals, beating the bigger teams. I will give him this season but next season, there needs to be a massive improvement given the money that has been spent. He can’t go on this winless/scoreless streaks that he’s been prone to in his managerial career.

Tomorrow’s game is pivotal. Graham has had a full three weeks to properly evaluate his squad with only the Fulham game in between. Something most Chelsea managers haven’t had the luxury of in recent times. I’m expecting to see a vastly improved performance with a defined style of play. Results are always the lifeblood, I really though will be focusing on performance.

If Potter isn't hitting those relatively meagre heights (that record wouldn't win us the league) then I'd be suggesting he gets sacked

I think his management will see us perform better than tuchel. Not "just as good".

Lampard isn't a quality manager. Tuchel, and in my belief, Potter is.

It's a lot easier to improve a club being managed by someone like Lampard. It's not easy to improve in the short term a club that is managed by a world class manager.

What Potter can do is improve things in the long term. Identify the systemic issues with the club and solve. And everything he's done off the pitch is showing that. And I suspect we are going to see it on the pitch in the next however many games.

Now that's fighting talk LOL.

3 points at West Ham tomorrow would be a great start 🙂

Well, considering this started from giving Dyche zero credit, fire is naturally going to be fought with fire on the subject, of course player motivations come into play, I agree with you, but not every manager incites a bounce; there is a lot of analysis out there dissecting the Arsenal game if you don’t wanna take my word for it. 😅

My point was that players making an effort, and not giving a flying f**k should not depend on who they like as a manager.

Anyway some ex manager on 5L said it wasn't about tactics, , so it seems he agrees with me !😁😁

Anyway, useless Frank was a hero last season, as he was here for a while.

If only we put in the effort that Dyche demands I would be happier, but our millionaire players don't care that much I reckon.

Thanks for your reply anyway

We are way ahead of schedule. Within a few months he has got us playing like Brighton season 1. By the end of the season , should be Brighton season 2 football.

Next season we should be worth watching.

Spent a bit of time on the Brighton forum and are you saying we've got all this still to come ?

  • a club record of 14 home games without a win.
  • Only one win at the Amex in the calendar year of 2020.
  • Three months without a win between September 2021 and Boxing Day.
  • Three months without scoring at the Amex between January and April 2022

Oh sweet joy ... 🙂

In fairness I'd settle for one win at the Amex this calender year.

This Kiwi coming in will appeal to Borglum, he will turn our mentality around to make Potters job that bit easier, listen he turned one of the worlds biggest Team icons into Back to back world Champions, that’s success

OR...

First season

Their highest points and goals in PL

Next season more goals and 12 clean sheets both new club records.

Next season more club records for goals scored and points achieved.

Don't look at goals conceded !!

Don't forget Brighton fans were furious when he left. Not anymore though!

Not hoping for much tomorrow... Mad when you consider what we've spent 😀

United fans are always weird with a manager in the first couple of years, they were the same with Mou, Ole and even Moyes aswell. Any criticism is usually meet with hundreds of "but Fergie needed time" drowning them out.

Weird? Isn't it exactly what plenty on here are doing. Pretending time will solve all our problems.

Potter have even started way worse than all those managers you mention.

Ok performance today but ok isn't good enough with the quality we've brought in. you can have any squad in world football, spend £600m every window.

But no club will ever challenge for a champions league spot with a manager as bad as Graham Potter in charge.

we've won 2 of our last 13 PL games and he still has a better record here than he had a at Brighton.  You don't win many games with Potter in charge regardless of how much time he has.

Simply one of the worst managers in the PL and that isn't good enough for our stature or level of investment.

Be surprised if he is still here next season. I hope I am wrong but he just doesn’t give the impression of a winner. Not enough presence, and tactically doesn’t really bring much.

the bright spots today were good players playing good football. It eventually gets coached out or negated by subs.

while there were positives, Potter needs to improve quickly. Not seeing enough for me.
