I mean while that's fair and I agree, when the performances and results were in reverse (ala Dortmund) we were told it was only the result that counts.

Let's not pretend we've had a lot of good performances but just haven't managed to convert them to results under Potter.

The Dortmund game is one of the few games we've played ok in since he took over.

Both performances and results have largely been sh*te which is the problem.

The only thing I can't work out is why the size of the squad is impacting performances as has been stated. If it down to performances and not about the money they could have easily put 8 players out on loan during the window, if Chelsea funded the whole thing. Any club would take one of our players on a 6 month loan if it were for free

Only positive I saw was that the players looked like they knew what to do, as opposed to what we saw the last several weeks. Leeds were tragic so don’t know how much that played into it.

Fall back to what we know given the circumstances. Keep back three. Put Sterling as ST. Felix RF and Mudryk at LF.

May fix issues temporarily but still worried about the long term.

Why do you think it is? I just can't quite put my finger on it.

Is there a limit on how many we can loan out ?

I do find it strange that those who continue to back Potter are likely the same ones that probably wanted Sarri out mid season.

Everyone is calling for Potters head.

I was backing him longer than most, and always backed Sarri.

I think you're quite mistaken. I'd be very surprised if the few left who back Potter were ever against Sarri.

Guess we know who's taking over after the Dortmund game

He’s so young compared to Potter, who is nearing 50, in time the narrative will change from “oh god, we can’t raid Brighton again’ to a clearer picture but he will need to change clubs again most likely. He’ll be off this summer regardless, probably Juventus (as discussed before) but since Potter isn’t going anywhere we have time to play the waiting game. Watch him from afar.. get revenge on the old lady after they poached Sarri.

A win doesn't change anything other than provide another building block to move forward.

We played ok today. Another clean sheet and 1st half should have been 2 up, save for bad luck with the crossbar and bad finishing from Kai. 2nd half, particularly after the goal was not the greatest and subs were awful.

The good bits of the performance would still have been good, whether we had scored or not. The bad points would have been bad, also whether we had scored and won or not.

Hopefully though the win helps build confidence. Players looked happy and together at the end - so we move forward.

I still have doubts that Potter is the answer long term.

I also still firmly believe that it makes no sense to sack now, and that the rebuild will continue to be long, with rough and smooth periods.

The win doesn't change anything. Other than confidence.

Potter doesn't have any backers, well maybe @just, the people who say give him time are mainly still on the fence, like i am.

Man if we do lose to Dortmund and nothing left to play for, the football until the end of the season is going to be horrid.

I can't see us scoring 2 goals to go thru.

We're going out .

I think Potter is here for a while though.

The club need to sort this out along with Potter. The subs didn't go down well with the fans apparently.

There's some good talent in our squad, surely we have to improve soon?

Pretty much how I see it. I think Potter is toast tbh, waiting till the end of the season at least allows the ‘right’ person to be put in the seat. There are reports we’re close to signing the Leipzig midfielder which suggests the coach doesn’t have much say in recruitment.

Maybe we'll nick one early and Potter can 9-0-1 our way into penalties, there's always hope 😂

Todd is head of recruitment.
