I'm sorry but that's bollax, we should have been out of site by half time and a 6 goal haul wouldn't have remotely flattered us.

The first 20 minutes were pretty meh but after that we played very well, especially in the first half.

We had a decent period between minute 23 and 45 in the first half against a really poor side who were wide open defensively.

One could easily identify that a decent team would beat us if we played the same way in the Premier League. And Brighton did exactly that. Also why Villa, Brentford and United easily dominated us for as long as we used that crap formation Potter is trying to implement.

Isn't it funny how we at least look half decent when we switch to a 4-2-3-1 or similar? Potter have scrambled to switch to that at half time or before for about a month now and yet he keeps lining up in that disasterous quasi back three.

I get that some people are a bit underwhelmed by the Potter appointment - I personally am prepared to give him time and a couple of transfer windows before truly judging him.

What confuses me is when people say we only won because Milan was poor twice or Wolves was poor, RB missed chances, Kepa stopped us losing at Villa etc..

If we are that bad then expectations should be lower surely or do people think we should of won all 10 games under GP and these players are good enough to challenge for the title without any additions or players coming back from injuries?

Do people believe with Pep or Klopp in charge for these 10 games we would of won virtually all 10 games with the same players and the same injuries?

Genuine question.

I think that the players aren’t good enough to challenge for the title and as it stands it’s debatable if we are one of the 4 best teams in the country.

We need to remember that Potter had zero preseason with this group of players. Expecting him to come in and get them playing amazing football and clicking after such a short period of time is ridiculous. I would expect knowledgeable football fans to understand this more than anyone. Regardless of if people feel we were lucky in recent games, every team gets "lucky" during games at various times, it happens. For e.g, Leeds miss a pen vs Arsenal and Arsenal go on to win that game 1-0. We drop points against Spurs after a ludicrous VAR penalty decision. We were mins away from beating Man Utd at home until a lapse and they score. Those two games we could have easily picked up 6 points, but instead we come away with 2 points. It is all about small margins. People talk about Kepa saving us, but his job is to make crucial saves, otherwise what's the point of a goalkeeper.

I know we have been effected by injuries but that has to be the last game we see Pulisic and Sterling deployed as wing-backs. Was never gonna work and yesterday it came to bite us in the arse big time.

On the right side we might have used CHO certainly don't fancy Azpi there any more so RLC might be the best until others return from injury.

Good question.

Potter is trying to manage without Reece, Fofana, KK, Kante and with a non creative midfield and misfiring forwards.

anyone who believes that's an easy fix is deluded. And our summer record spend has been wasted really.

it took Klopp a few years, ,  he would have had no chance of getting us to play a high pressure , high intensity style with our players.

but when we fancy it, like v Spurs , it clearly works, but we rarely play that way .

Let's give Potter time, I don't know what budget we have for transfers, but we have to be patient I think

I like the back and forth here between the "Potter is sh*t he never should have got the job" and the "he needs time, let's give him time" lot.

Like what we think or feel matters slightly to the money men. They know our love for the club will keep us spending top amounts even if all we get is boring football and never get close to winning anything. We will be the cash cow they want us to be regardless of on the field results, and over time Wyss, Goldstein and Clearlake will get their pound of flesh.

Conte, Sarri, Lampard, Tuchel, and Potter.

No matter the manager, the lapse in concentration and failure to enter the game with intensity has always been an issue with this current group.

We've been saying it for years, the culture never changes. We make lazy signings who are glad of the big pay day to live in London, and who don't give too sh*t about Chelsea.

You offer the likes of Sterling, Havertz and RLC etc 400k a week to go to fulham and you would not see them for dust.

So for Boehly has given a contract extension to James, because he and Silva are the only elite players we have.

Personally, I'm glad things are stalling on Mendy, Kante, Jorginho, and yes, even Mount.  This lack of consistency they've shown over the year and wanting to be rewarded for it, should be pushed back entirely.

Fans do carry clout, just look at the ESL fiasco and how our fans react when owners are not listening.

Positives yes, but he never should have signed Sterling, Koulibaly, Cucurella and Aubameyang in the first place. Was a kid in a candy store approach. Was a way of blowing 150mill plus huge contracts that will be hard to shift.

Great you move on Mendy, Jorgi, Kante and RLC in 2 seasons, but you now have 4 other problems to deal with.

Hmm, would that have worked had the PL, FA, Uefa and Fifa backed the super league though?

Why would they back it ? That's like saying the PGA tour will back LIV tour.

For me it's not about the coach but this group of players. They are either average, don't give a f**k to play for Chelsea or have dropped in form/injured (those that are good and play for the club). It is a very unbalanced team with a very weak and uncreative midfield. No matter which coach comes, this team will not perform at the expected level.

Lots of people making excuses for Potter.  Fact most of what we've seen has been really  appalling  an amateur coach would get crucified   for some of the team management and tactics he has deployed. Loose the next two games and you can forget about top 4 . Kante and James are not gone to save our arses in Jan Remember people where raving about Sterling when he was  been played  in his proper position, forwards playing wing back with defenders on the bench This guy would play Messi at centre back

It’s like flogging a dead horse with this current crop of players.

Interestingly the reason why Pep and Klopp have done so well at their respective teams, in my opinion, rests on the idea that their teams seem to have a bit of the older school grit and sound mentality about them.

A couple of players aside, I wouldn’t want any of our current first team coming to my immediate aid were I on fire and pleading for my life. They’d sh*t themselves and worry they’d get their Gucci handbags and sh*t tracksuits dirty.

I think it would be silly to class those as failed signings right now. The entire team is poor and a large reason of it is down to management.

Then why the f**k did sack TT?

f**k me, change the tune a little bit. I didn't want TT to be sacked and I was as much surprised and annoyed as many In here. However, do I want to do the same now to Potter? Nope, because I don't think that even if TT returned, he'd be in a better situation.

Sorry for the language mate but it‘s just frustrating to imagine having sacked an elite coach and not making any progress afterwards. Potter has no experience working at a top club with top egos and several matches in a short span of time. I‘m just afraid that this could go horribly wrong.

As they say up sh*t creek without a paddle with what we're paying them and the length of contracts, god why do we do this to ourselves.
