Only 1 signing @Gol15? We need half a team!

I feel like we're lacking that 1 player that makes the difference in the final third. Granted we lack much more than that but if we had a world class player to boost our attack things would be much easier.

For me Aubameyang was a Tuchel signing and Pep being happy to let us have Sterling wasn't because he's such a nice guy he maybe foresaw that he'll be similar to Werner or something not sure, for whatever reason those so called established players only showed glimpses of quality.

Anyway it looks like another season where our signings simply aren't working out, we lost Rudiger and Christensen and Fofana and Koulibaly are injured so right now we're looking like a very average squad, specially since we won't even use Zakaria either. Too many holes so you're right when you say half a team but if we had a world class attacker cutting inside and scoring sucker-punch goals half of our problems would be hidden and that would give the whole squad some time to breathe.

We are lacking two or three imo.

In terms of what though? Challenging for top 4? Maybe so

Chilwell

Wide Forward

Gallagher/Mount

In terms of competing in the CL and for the title? Think we need 9 new first team players.

Agree with this but I think Chilwell could very much be a LB in a title winning team if he reaches the heights he did last season before getting injured.

It hasn't been plain sailing but I'm amazed that fans expected us to suddenly be this great team as soon as Tuchel left. We were awful in almost every game under Tuchel at the start of the season (exception being Spurs), and we were also pretty awful for most of the second half of last season. Things were hardly going to turn around overnight.

Perhaps because we were turned around overnight when Tuchel replaced Lampard? Proving its absolutely possible to do so.

And comparing Potter honeymoon period to Tuchels problems at the end is hardly a glowing compliment too Potter is it? Compare them both at the beginning of their reign and there is obviously no comparison.

Potter learning on the job how to cope with managing 3 fixtures a week ... and it's unfortunately a slow process ...

We need a whole new midfield, and I'm including wingers as midfielders, albeit it might make them look a bit better if they actually played as wingers, rather than inside forwards, wingbacks or whatever other "clever" manager sh*t is currently in vogue.

You could play Reece James anywhere and he would look class. A better comparison imo would be playing playing Gallagher as CDM.

I don't rate Sterling. Never have. I know some do and that is fair enough.

We are going to spend the most by far by the looks of things and is going to get us conference league football next year if we are looking. Really it is absolutely hilarious, clown college stuff.

As I've said before, the one trophy that so far has eluded us is the Conference League. Bring it on ::ChELSeAFaN:: !

I just read on twitter that Potter averages 1 goal per match. Is that true? Would be pretty underwhelming for the next big flavour

His Brighton team scored 132 goals in the 120 PL games he was in charge for.

We have been unfortunate with injuries, there's no denying it. Key players out last season and this season again. Kante hasn't even played a game under Potter has he? Kante was our rock in midfield and now he's missing again for another 2 months.

None of these players are Potter signings and this is the problem with hire and fire of managers. I don't know the answer, but we need some stability for once. We have been way off challenging for the title for years. We are being forgotten about as a title challenger at this point.

I missed the first half so watched the highlights on MOTD and obviously we looked a shambles defensively. Lineker made a good point, mentioning that Potter's started three matches with attacking wingbacks (Sterling, Pulisic) and Cucarella at CB, and has bailed on it every time during the match. I get it, we have an unbalanced squad and some key defensive players are injured, so Potter's trying to accommodate more of our available and fit attacking players, but surely the experiment is a failure. If he tries it again against Zagreb, then that would be the very definition of insanity.

Secondly I think Newcastle are talking our place in the traditional top 6. They are investing well and supporting their manager, a good English manager BTW. I just have a feeling the new owners will see us return to the Chelsea Uncle Ken made us to be.

There's just no logic to that.

Newcastle could take our place in the top 2, but the other 4 teams have no clear reason why they will be above us in any season for the next 5. And realistically after Newcastle and City, it feels we are going to spend the most in that time period.

Our new owners are being more aggressive than those other 4 teams in the market. And i fully expect us to have a "lucky" season with injuries at some point.

I said yesterday always likely to be a strange match against your own club when you leave after the season has started and we conceded with two own goals.

I get Pulisic playing defensively on the right yet why Sterling on the left when we have Chilwell.

I feel Sreling's best in a front two, play him too wide and he is just mediocre.

I refuse to believe Potter is doing it without a logical reason. He seems like a competent and good manager, so he's probably more worried about injuries which is why he left Chilwell on the bench.

He's said it a couple times since he came in, that Chilwell is still not 100%. I can understand the frustration, but he sees these players on the training ground and speaks to them daily, he will know way more than we will know what is going on.

It's like the people who say Loftus-Cheek is this or that, but Potter sees him day in, day out. It's very easy to criticise from the sidelines having never been a coach, or even tried coaching, especially not at the elite level.

I know we have been effected by injuries but that has to be the last game we see Pulisic and Sterling deployed as wing-backs. Was never gonna work and yesterday it came to bite us in the arse big time.

Finished with football for a bit, so pissed off with the club i've loved and followed for well over 50yrs. To watch the sh*t football we play along with the couldn't give a f**k attitude from the players, i'm going to go and watch my local team Slough, funnily enough where one of our players who seems to give a toss comes from.

The players we've bought over the past few years have been a total f**king disaster. How the f**k we are where we are has been a miracle.

Totally f**ked off.

Wednesday is a free hit whatever cockeyed formation he plays we should win comfortably but if we get carved open by Arsenal then I can see the crowd turning on him with you don't know what your doing. Still a lot of love for Tuchel at the Bridge lot of apathy for Potter I'm going next Sunday and I'm very nervous especially with their recent record at the Bridge.

There's just so many questions to be asked of Potter about yesterday

- Why are you playing 2 wingers at wing back when you have wing backs/full backs on the bench?

- Did you underestimate Brighton and arrogantly think we didn't need defenders at wing back or was it just a sh*te tactical performance?

- Why are you playing Havertz who again and again shows he can't play as a number 9 up front when you've got 2 strikers on the bench?

- Why would you drop Jorginho, our best fit DM, in favour of RLC who has been poor lately and can't defend?

I was always Tuchel in but fully behind Potter. After watching his post match interview I think he realised he f**ked up and I hope he doesn’t do that again, if he does then he hasn’t learned and we are in for a long very long season.

He also took full responsibility and didn’t blame the players.

He needs to analyse the match and make sure he fixed that mistake.

So far his Chelsea team has scored 17 goals in 10 games (av. 1.7 goals per match) in all competitions, and 9 goals in 6 PL games (av. 1.5 goals per match)

And here ladies and gentlemen sums up everything I’ve said about our team.

Conor Gallagher admits Chelsea's players must accept blame and be self-critical after conceding Brighton "wanted it a bit more"

9 goals in 6 fixtures in the PL, which would extrapolate to 57 in a full 38 game season ! Exciting stuff LOL

Our goal difference compared to Newcastle's is a concern as well if things do get tight at the end of the season it could be a factor.

It was a poor performance and some bad tactical decisions were made from GP.

Such is life. Most managers suffer heavy defeats against smaller clubs at some point or another. It happened to all of the most successful PL managers.

Obviously Chelsea fans are widely known to be some of the most impatient and angry fans out there and it remains to be seen if Boehly is going to run the club in a rational way or according to how fans want it (sack the manager and sell all the players after each defeat).

If he's patient, everything will turn out alright with GP as the manager. You might not think that way now, but you'll realise it in time - if Boehly is a fan of time.

Gallagher would have been wise to keep his mouth shut.

Now I and probably many more fans will be asking why Brighton wanted it a bit more. There should never be any situation where two teams walk onto the football pitch and one of those teams wants it more than the other, unless it's something like a team fighting relegation and the other teams position is already guaranteed.

To be blunt about it, any player that didn't want it enough yesterday needs to get out of the club. I don't care who you are, if you're not giving 100%, then what are you doing playing for a club with title winning aspirations? But more importantly, you should be giving your all for yourself, the club and the fans.
