Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager

Featured Replies

Even under Potter we seem to Be playing with the hand brake on, seems deja- by, to have lost Reece and Chilly at around the same time, but we still have players to hurt most opponents…It’s just again not good to watch, Hopefully Zaharia is played, looks very useful, a more energetic RLC.

I worry that Potter isn’t quite elite because he is “too nice”. He never seems upset when we lose. I know getting getting upset doesn’t necessarily mean you’re world class but I want to see him that have that “killer” edge to him. I always thought Lampard was abit naive and nice to be world class - but he seems to have learnt the dark arts at Everton.

I'll back you on this.

From some of the fan accounts i follow on Twitter it does seem that many see this as a positive. That he won't shout at the players, and specifically the youngsters, that he doesn't throw anyone under the bus, that he's so nice et cetera.

I guess it's a nice change of pace for some but the best managers hate losing and will kill any player that doesn't meet the standard. And thats how it needs to be at a club like ours in my opinion. And every successfull manager we have had have had that killer instinct to them.

Probably because he's never faced the pressure of managing such high expectations and big egos.

Calm and composed does exist though.

 Ancelotti. Flick. ten Hag.

That’s true. Ranting and raving doesn’t always mean much.

However, I suppose what I’m trying to say that with elite sports and teams, the difference between winning and losing is very small. I’m not entirely sure what it is - but Pep, Jose, Fergie, Carlo etc all have that killer/winning instinct. I’m questioning whether Potter has it (I’m not writing him off yet)

His press conferences are definitely dull anyway, if that’s what we’re gauging it on, his last one where he was complaining about the amount of fixtures like Arsenal & Man-City don’t have the same problem 🙄. It is interesting how Brighton have actually hired a better tactician though, obviously we’d never take a shot at a manager like De Zerbi. As depressing as it is (as a brit), I can’t see England producing a world class coach in modern football.

Based on what though? Their win against us was their first under him, and our first defeat under Potter.

Did you see the game?, Brighton basically playing City/Arsenal football in and out of possession with a few tweaks, their owner is a damn near genius, playing 5d chess.. all the rights moves & decisions for a club of that level. Nothing but upgrades, transfer-wise and now what looks like manager-wise, unbelievable.

And let’s not start that first loss rhetoric, Kepa was the only thing standing between Potter and total crisis. Anyway, we’ll see how things pan out but it’s not looking good on us as an organisation and the way we have been operating and still are.

Speaking of City, since Todd and Co do admire them so, they should look at how the Coty owners have football people make football decisions and not the owners themselves. Ditto Newcastles owners with Dan Ashworth.

Todd and Clearlake know how to make money, and I am sure they will make Chelsea very profitable over time, but if they remain the ones to make football calls then things will continue to go poorly.

I agree but I'd rather them take their time and hire the right people versus rushing and just hiring people for the sake of 'footballing people have to make footballing decisions'. We need to remember that this takeover happened unexpected and wasn't an organized one where Todd and co would have had their backroom ready ahead of time. The UK government f**ked us over by involving themselves in the sale process, so everyone is playing catch up. It might take until next summer before all the 'important positions' are fully filled before Todd and co can be more hands-off.

Since Potter came in:

- Sterling turned to sh*t

- No improvements in attack

- Defence in shambles

- Getting outplayed by Arsenal at the Bridge and the likes of Brighton

- Disgusting lineups

- RLC blank cheque

- Top 4 a dream

Welcome to Boehly‘s Chelsea featuring Potter.

POTTER OUT

Edited by GermanChels

What a sh*t show from the all knowing owner to replace a top rated manager with a meh one with potential (supposedly). Never seen a Chelsea side so placid against Arsenal.

It's not even that Arsenal are great this season which they are but we are offering zilch everywhere on the park.

So what exactly was the game plan today, Mr Potter? Because all I saw of us trying to "attack" (and I use the word loosely), was hoofing it forward to no-one and Arsenal heading it away.

Woeful team selection again, midfield was completely bossed. They won all the 50-50s. We can't create a single chance to save our lives. Just terrible all round. But, it was expected, which is the sad thing. I'm sure 99% of us could have told you exactly how that game was going to go, I'm only surprised they didn't score more.

Boehly has enabled this result, sacking a UCL winner and one of the most acclaimed managers in Europe for a Brighton manager out of his mind and out of his depth. I f**king hate this club right now

Potter is a clown and should have never been in charge of a club like Chelsea. I mean, this is CHELSEA not f**king Tottenham. We don't hire Brighton managers.

Other clubs fans are literally laughing at us right now on social media for sacking Tuchel for this guy.

The team is crap. We were always going to struggle for top four, especially with Manutd coming into form (their summer transfer window was fantastic) and Tottenham just having a much better attack (Kane is worth more than our entire forward line put together, including attacking midfielders).

We have been fortunate that Liverpool have been poor to put us even in contention. The warning signs have been there since December 2021 that we needed to do severe surgery on the squad, but that did not happen. Our transfer window was, arguably, the worst in the league. We did not fix any of the weaknesses that we had.

The squad management has been awful for the last 2 or 3 seasons.

On the money Zeta. I'm not pleased we lost but actually satisfied that we didn't lose like NF did last week, which no doubt was a real possibility.

Just look at the stats. Sorry you don't even need to look at the stats, watching it would have been enough to see what went on.

The viewing was painful.

Dark clouds over him now but let’s not forget the rot was there way back, Kepa saved this man from an even more premature crisis; without his heroics the situation would be bleak beyond measure at this stage.
