Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager

Featured Replies

Guys I know things look bad, and we haven't even had a honeymoon period or manager bounce yet but lets put things into perspective.

Pep said he's good, plus he's English, so we should at least give him 3 years before we start judging him.

Nothing personal Potter, but I'm going to support this petition and share it far and wide. I want it to get big enough that Boehly is made aware of how we his customers feel, he took away our project and restarted it with an inferior coach.

I actually like Potter and have nothing against him, his football or anything like that, my issue is with Boehly. Boehly doesn't understand our club's culture or our high standards. Boehly dropped the ball so hard, that's now 2 wins in our last 7 games.

No wonder Guardiola likes him, he always likes coaches that makes it easy for his teams to play. He must have been laughing when we sacked Tuchel.

Did you see our two games vs City last season?

Man City beat us 1-0 twice last season and they comfortably beat us.

Yeah they won comfortably , but the point still stands, has anyone ever beaten guardiola 3 times on the spin ?

Just now, Scott Harris said:

Yeah, they weren't great, we didn't make it this easy for them to play their football though. We never looked this easy to play against under Tuchel.

Last season at home to City we literally couldn't get out of our own half.

I originally wrote a long answer to this post, but I'll just leave it and say it's idiotic and makes no sense.

Pep then figured Tuchel out and beat us comfortably, it is what it is. We've got a big rebuild on our hands and it's mainly down to replacing the dross players we have

The second half of that first game we were, after Jesus scored it could and should have gone to 3 or 4.

I didn't want Tuchel to be sacked and I'm very unimpressed with Potter on the whole at the minute but I don't think he done much wrong tonight.

People (rightly) pointed out he was saved from humiliation vs Villa by Kepa, well he coached atleast a draw tonight against a better side but for Ortega.

The difference is that was the best we could offer, we couldn't go up anymore gears, they could if they wanted to.

Thats not on Potter, it's not his fault we have the worst set of attackers in the top 6.

TT had the same problem.

Go on mate I'm listening, if you're going to call someone out at least have the balls to say it and explain your reasoning. Or is it that anyone who doesn't share the same opinion as you is idiotic and therefore wrong?

Conte and Arteta lost to worse teams tonight. Sack them!

Worth reminding people that Arteta took over at Arsenal when Frank was in his first season with us. They won the Cup that year (thanks in no small part to some questionable reffing) but for the most part Arteta did not enjoy much success over his first 3 seasons. Yet he was given the time for a much needed rebuild of Arsenal. I don't think they will win the league this season but they certainly look a lot better as a result of the rebuild. Many on here don't even want Potter given a season. Not really sure how we get out of this cycle without some patience.

I have never been a fan of 3 at the back, now I just despise it tbh. I wouldnt change the Champions League win in Porto for anything, but I think Tuchel's biggest mistake, was thinking that system was the answer. He shouldve looked at the league form and realised the issues.

Now Potter seems to be making the same error, we are sticking with a system that was brought in to protect players like Jorginho and T.Silva.

We have spent £350m on players that we hope can fit into these hybrid 3atb systems, but it seems the players that we would require are unicorns.

The only positive has been the wing backs, but they physically cant cope with the workload, and for the 2nd season running have broken down with muscle injuries.

This isnt a critique of tonight, we lost away to city, we played okay. It's the league cup at the end of day.

I'm just praying Potter and whoever ends up in charge of recruitment come to the conclusion quickly that a back 3 system does not dominate in modern football. You might catch teams out with it for 6 months, or for a decent cup run, but it's not the answer for sustainable success.

I'd argue Arsenal's success is more down to their recruitment policy under Edu than Arteta being a tactical genius. We need a good Director of Football asap, over any new manager/player. It's a big shame we missed out on Christoph Freund from Salzburg, even our recruitment under Emenalo was far better than it is now.

Tuchels 3 at the back system >>> Potter's 3 at the back system. When all our players were fit (particulary Kante) we dominated games whilst staying rock solid at the back, Guardiola was terrified of us going into the CL final.
