Auba has been scoring at a good rste for Barca. Cheap option

Kouli could be decent. Give him time.

Both short term options as we rebuild the club.

He better hurry up then.

I can see Koulibaly finding his feet 100%

Auba for me is the shortest of short term fix (Christmas maybe), might be proved wrong once his face heals up and if he finds a bit of sharpness but I don't see it.

Silva looked sh*t at this stage two years ago.

I'll give them all time. Let's see what happens

No he didn't, he had one bad debut and has been almost faultless since.

My concerns for Koulibaly is on his physical condition. How easily he is turned should be a concern for all of us. Literally any player with pace he has come up against, he has been a mess. He shows all of the signs that his legs have gone.

31 and 33 really isn't that old these days.

Koulibaly was a like for like replacement for Rudiger, really can't think of many other experienced CB's available on the market that we could have bought. Seems to be taking a few games to find his feet but that's as expected in this league. An injury to Silva and our starting CB's would be 21 year old Fofana and 23 year old Chalobah.

We desperately needed an option up top with only Broja as a natural number 9 in our squad. There doesn't seem to be any young upcoming strikers with high potential available. Haaland and Alvarez had obviously already moved to City, Adeyemi had gone to Germany, Leao was being quoted at £100m, which was impossible with Lukaku still technically a contracted player to us. Auba is a reliable goal scorer that was still banging them in at Barca. We've seen him play for all of 60 minutes so ridiculous to call him a flop already.

This has probably been our best transfer window since 2014 and people are still moaning ffs.

Let's see how he develops/adapts his game. No doubt the pace of the PL is a learning curve for him.

Just look around the PL and the top teams and see if any top teams are signing 30+ players, and there lies your answer. Most players coming in from foreign teams complain about the pace and the amount of running involved in the league. It’s ridiculous carrying a 31yr & a 36yr in your defence in the quickest league in Europe.

I think you’ll find that 36 year old is actually 37 and carrying the entire squad at present.

I was happy when we signed Koulibaly, and not when we signed Auba. KK has been a big disappointment so far, turning circle of a tank and not nearly as physically dominate as I expected. Him being on a 5 year deal I believe will bite us.

Auba I doubt is in the first team squad long, he won't be happy TT has gone.

Give Koulibaly a few more weeks to settle in. There's some naivety in his overall play but he is far too experienced to not be able to adapt to his surroundings.

These first few matches were a reality check for him. Bloke thought he could man mark Brenden Aaronson when in reality he is one of the fastest players in Europe. sh*t like this could fly in Serie A but not in the Prem. Needs to learn to give himself some space when marking these players.

He'll come good.

Koulibaly was probably the best replacement we could get for Rudiger for his price. Clearly not as good as Rudiger but for 30m it's the best we could do.

Personally I would have rather given Colwill and Ampadu a chance.

No he isn’t. There are actually flaws in his game no one wants to talk about. Granted he has been good, he is still an anomaly not the norm. You just don’t start buying 30+ players because one worked out. Biggest legacy of his reign in a few years might be he left us with an ageing squad.

Apparently the owners met with Auba after sacking Tuchel and talked it through with him, and Auba came away from that meeting happy and still ready to play for Chelsea.

Good job that’s sorted, cos he ain’t got many playing options till January

Utd signed Casemiro, Spurs signed Perisic, Liverpool signed Thiago.

Koulibaly is same age as Van Dijk, nothing wrong with having experienced heads in your back line.

I agree. In addition to what we have done in the summer, come the winter window we must either follow up with the Tapsoba interest or, probably better still, go in for Pau Torres to add to the ranks.

I am not sure how much people are particularly moaning about the deals that have been done, although it has to be acknowledged that a number of the main targets were not achieved.

With regards to CB, Silva, who has been and continues to be brilliant, had a plan in mind to take him to Qatar. Having achieved that WC target, similar to holiday diets, we may see a sudden decline afterwards as the effort catches up with him. @Scott Harris is right to articulate some concerns over Koulibaly's mobility, from what we have seen so far he has the turning circle of a 1970's Ford Zephyr. Therefore further cover in thsi area was required and not achieved mainly due to chasing after pointless unobtainable targets.

With regards to a marquee striker, i  remain surprised, and mentioned it during the window, that we never made an effort to sign Osimhen.

Whilst some of the acquisitions during the window have the potential to be good, i think a lot of the concern is that a number of the key, trigger, positions were not catered for and still need to be filled. Little point in having a bright, fast new striker if the midfiled continue to pass sideways becuase they haven't the gumption to read a forward movement.

Liverpool signed Van Dijk 5 years ago  And Van Dijk has been sh*t for about a year now.

Not really a good example.

Van Dijk been sh*t? That's just how high the standard has been set for him, he's still walking into absolutely any team on the planet in current form.

I wasn't talking about when he signed, just pointing out he's the same age as Koulibaly currently.

last night was the best we can hope for  koulibaly not picked and Aubameyang taken off  and the goal we let in was down to players who have no pace not a dig just simple fact Silva dived in two footed as he was slow getting there Aspi was slow to cover the ball in got beat to it  with out pace we can only play a defensive game
