We aren't paying 40m in taxes. That's not going to be a thing.

That tax was only relevant to the buyout clause. However we have only been in negotiations around the release clause

Chelsea is contacting a factoring company so they can pay the release clause, can avoid FFP, and pay through time the money.

Portuguese broadcaster SIC have told Sky Sports News that Enzo Fernandez is currently undergoing his Chelsea medical at Lisbon’s Hospital of Light. #cfc

what is a factoring company?

Quick research - looks like a loan shark and we're financing this deal through alternate means likely impacting how it flows to our accounts.

Glad we're taking a page out of City's and PSG's playbook. Let's see if UEFA will continue to be hypocrites.

No we aren't.

For a start, I'm fairly certain that portugaese law, like Spanish law (which is better understood by people like me) doesn't actually tax you for activating a buyout clause. No reputable source has said otherwise.  It's been a lot of "I think, based on what I read in a paper which reported what another paper said"

For a second, Benfica might be stubborn, but they are in no way going to take 120m up front and force us to pay 40m in taxes rather than take 121m from us up front and we pay 0 in taxes. They are stubborn but they aren't stupid. So if we go to release clause benfica will just take whatever we offer.

My view is what we are trying to avoid is paying it all in one lump. We maybe offered 100m now and 25m in installments. But that's to avoid the whole lump in one go which affects accounting for some reason.

This isn't really a debate, it's just logic.

According to Sky Sports, Benfica still don't agree to Chelsea's proposal of payments, they want it payed up quicker, this is really dragging on,we still might not get him.

This really isn't going to happen, Chelsea and Benfica just can't get to a agreement they both like, time is ticking.I don't see Boehly winning this.
