Fulham v Chelsea (PL) Thur 12th Jan 2023 20:00 GMT

Featured Replies

So what do we know so far?
-Football is different from baseball.
- It's not the first time Chalobah does this, but I don't think it's a mental illness.
-Felix read in the Spanish press that they play hard in PL.
- Potter is a good coach, he came after Tuchel, not after Lampard.
-We are a strong team, the rumors say that the teams from the -Championship don't want us there.
- The suckers from the Championship don't know that we still have a backlog with Liverpool.
- There is a legend that says that Potter's assistant gives directions in Swedish
-Swedes say that Swedish sounds good, but the English drink too much beer
-Crystal is next
-But we were patient.

Graham Potter was appointed on September 12th. Droyman joined this site on September 22nd. Every post is effectively defending Potter and slagging the team off. Go on mate f*ck off and join the Potter forum, this one is for Chelsea fans.

Unlike 'some' on here I am NOT a Johnny come lately gloryhunting Chelsea fan, I've probably been a fan since before you could say 'football', do you know the history of Chelsea FC?

To be honest forbzy I thought we sacked Tuchel too soon and I thought Potter was a brave appointment but given far too long a contract.

Most of the players downing tools had already downed tools under Tuchel. Not because of the manager but more because they are lazy footballers and arguably sh*t professionals. Ziyech, Jorginho, Havertz, Pulisic and Aubameyang wouldn't bust a gut to get to their Dads funeral.

Likes of Mount and Kovacic I don't think have downed tools. Kovacic just really isn't a very good footballer and Mount is hideously off form.

Disagree slightly on Kovacic. I think he is a decent player but not somebody to build the team around. Ideally he would be more of a squad player but we have very few alternatives right now. Odd that we haven't prioritized a central midfielder given our struggles. Not just this window but the last 2 years.

And any new manager coming in now Loz will probably wipe the slate clean and all the big money (sh*t) signings and older, experienced (sh*t) players will be straight back in the starting lineup.

Quite possibly Just whereas I'd be looking for us to look further ahead than next week.

Granted its tough now with so many injuries but with a fit squad  is there really any value in still playing Jorginho, Ziyech, Aubameyang, Pulisic, Havertz, Azpilicueta (for different reasons than the rest, stunning servant to the club) and Kovavic? I don't think there is. They have so little to contribute now

In the on-going discussion on Potter's performance it could be good to agree on some basic points in the manager's job description to avoid any confusion or misinterpretation and then judge his performance against those points.

Anybody to highlight great achievements so far? What's the light at the end of the tunnel? And I am not being facetious, just very concerned.

Shame... it looks like he can (or will be able to when he comes back from the ban) put a decent ball in for someone to get on the end of 🤕

Yes. Who built the squad, and also failed to rid us of some of them. Not Potter.

A manager can't turn the likes of Ziyech, Jorginho, Havertz, Aubameyang into quality professionals. They never will be. We are carrying too many 'meh' attitudes and no team can cope with that when the chips are down

Except all those players could contribute to a side better than 10th in the Prem.

Its 'not' 1970 anymore???? You do realise that 1970 was a GREAT year for Chelsea FC don't you do you seriously think that expectation weren't as high back then?  Of course its what happened in the 10 years AFTER 1970 that should be a warning to us now right?  Do you know about the saga of John Neal?  I don't think you do.

I was talking about the 70's in general, where we spent most of our time yo-yoing like a modern day Newcastle.

Perhaps the one blessing is that since we are out of the cup we have less games coming up in the rest of January. We could do with every but of time to get a few players back. But just as importantly we need to make sure they are genuinely ready to play and not just 50-60 mins away from a  recurrence.

Good post, I would drop all of em, don't get me wrong I adore Dave, he has been a fantastic servant for this club, unfortunately he's no Reece James though, he's not even the Dave of a couple of seasons ago.  Out to grass with a mighty big thank you if you ask me.  As for the others, well it would be nice to see Havertz do more than jog gently around the pitch, it would be nice to see Ziyech stop with his 'fancy flicks', it would be nice to see Jorginho pass it forwards, it would be nice to see Pulisic have an end product and it would just be nice for Aubameyang to f*ck off basically! 😄

Agreed. And we aren't getting top four do this is rebuild time. There is a focus on bringing in youth which we are largely doing. Given that, it seems sensible to start playing them regularly and sticking with them.

There is value in playing Jorginho alright, with 10 men and much more pressure we managed to play the ball all the way to the final third and even create chances to score that once again Havertz missed out on. The difference in the attack is clear after tonight's debut of Felix, we didn't see such a player since Hazard.

No coincidence that the majority of the players you named are the final third players, but at least Jorginho can still do his role, even while Kovacic is having a poor game and even while we have a player less.

Yah... gives us the chance to focus on the premiership... the sort of comment you normally hear from Managers of the teams in the relegation zone 😁

I was hoping Lampard was going to do that...

Not exactly 'yo-yoing' though was it.   It was a steady decline, a decline that culminated in a narrow escape from the third tier of English football, do you know why?  It was pretty obvious to fans both at the time and now - and yet here we are advocating that we go down the same route again!

It may have seemed that way but we weren't really a yo-yo team back then. We went into decline over the course of the 70's, and that led to 2 relegations. But arguably the second one was avoidable if it hadn't been for a fallout between the chairman and Eddie Mac.

Yes. Top 4 is always going to be a target at start of the season, but at the moment a genuine rebuild feels overdue and more important.

I Can Pass Backwards Do The Odd Floated Ball Forward And Point Just Like Jorginho, Doesn't Take Anything Away From The Fact Jorginho Should Be Talked About Like Those Attackers, He Offers Nothing 99% Of The Time That 1% He Does Something Is Exactly Like Those Attackers

I will take 10th now but I'm not hopeful.

We'll finish higher than that, although that totally depends on the injury situation between now and the end of the season.

I just watched the match in which he clearly did offer a lot for our squad despite everything going against his style of play. The pressure was more, the press was higher and yet he still managed to do his role. Our attacker don't do their roles at all, even under Tuchel we had a lot of defenders scoring.

This is a good point  and perhaps a blessing for all of us
