Tottenham in 'surprise move' to 're-sign' £30m target wit...

Spurs are 'plotting a surprise move' to 're-sign' Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. 😮

Not that I would lose any sleep over his sale but isn't £30m what we paid for him to begin with? Needs to be £40m at least.

IMO he’s not for sale at any reasonable price, anything up to 70m.

The thing he has over the other wingers here is the consistency. He can have a run of good games and we really need it.

Sad really because that used to be the bare minimum for anybody 😳

He was for sale last summer.

Consistency? Are we talking about the same player?

Never taken to the bloke, seems to have an absolute stinker of an attitude problem. Walking around like he’s Palmers level, when outside of some stat padding against the worst Wolves side of the last decade he’s done nothing all season.

Whether it’s selfishness or just a lack of vision he always seems to make the wrong call in a cross/shoot situation and then sulks about like it’s everyone else’s fault.

If it really was that easy someone else bar Palmer would have scored a hat trick.

Wolves left back went AWOL for some reason for 15 minutes in that game, leaving acres of space for Noni to shoot after Palmer put him in (it was good shooting all the same).

Noni also robbed a goal off Chalobah, so that's another one of his goal contributions that I tend to dis-regard when assessing comparative performance of our wingers.

I still maintain that Raheem Sterling would have put up better numbers this season than all our wingers if he'd been afforded the opportunity to do so. None of them have come remotely close to the G/A per minute contribution that Sterling made in 23/24.

Good argument up to that point.

Sterling is finished @Sexyfootball - LET IT GO!!

Let’s be fair not one winger is good enough to start for us if we want to compete for the league. Spent all season relying on Palmer/Jackson’s productivity. Hell, even Cucurella is a bigger threat than our wingers.

Im now of the opinion, Noni sulking is because of Marescas tactics. I think our players being out of form are down to Marescas tactics.

This lad and others will all show promise when Maresca is no longer in charge.

Have to agree BT. I think Pepillini knows as much about effectively managing and nurturing young footballers, as Donald "Orange" Trump does about global economics and the effectiveness of trade tariffs.

Merely making the point that the "finished" version of Sterling is still better than what we kept LOL

You’ve been saying this for months, and for months I’ve wanted to disagree with you but you’re totally right. Our wingers are f**king average.

Apparently Maresca brought in a psychologist consultant this week to try and get our forwards and wingers to overcome the "shoot/goal" fear factor and address the underlying mental anxiety which confronts them everytime with the goal at their mercy.

He started by giving each player a piece of paper and asking them to draw or write what they saw in their heads when they were one on one with the opposition keeper.

Sancho wrote "SSAP". Which the psychologist analysed and said was "PASS" backwards.

Jackson took 10 minutes to take the top off his pen and then drew a frying pan flying miles over a cow's arse.

N'kunku never turned up for the session.

Noni went out on the pitch and stuck a couple in top bins.

He was brilliant on the left yesterday, though a bit awkward. I would actually leave him there as a starter for the rest of the season to see if he can build on his performance. Club seems to have this fascination with signing a right footed left winger in the summer, the options we are linked with in Gittens, Garnacho & Yildiz are very underwhelming and in no way improve on our current average options.

I’d rather we shift Madueke to the left, and let Neto compete with Estevao on the RW.

of all our attackers, he is the one player who can be relied upon to have a go, take on a player, have a shot, get to the touchline and put in a ball etc. Consistently our most likely player to try and make something happen.

Not sure the quality is always there, but his will and instinct is spot on. We need more of our players (Neto, sancho, palmer ) to take a leaf out of his book.

I also like that he often refuses to pass to Jackson. He knows....

I wouldn't say brilliant but it's nice to know he can actually play on the left, I assumed he was allergic considering no other manager tried it. Shame the ship has already sailed on Palmer at right wing as that would probably be our best set up.

Imagine Noni working with a proper centre-forward though. Perhaps someone like Costa who would murder his wife and run over his own granny to get a yard in front a defender to just get a shot on goal. Or one of Noni's crosses for once being met, not by a static, stationery Jackson, but by a soaring Drogba battering his way past two defenders to win an aerial ball that he smashes into the top of the net.

Hhmmm isn't it? Ooh. Suits you Sir.

Isn't it, aren't they? Jumpers for goal posts. Costa in his prime running defenders ragged ooh suits you sir.

From the Guardian's weekly round-up:

Jackson back in groove as Palmer toils

Chelsea’s Champions League push gained momentum with a win against Everton, fuelled by Nicolas Jackson breaking his scoring drought and Noni Madueke’s influential performance on the left. The 23-year-old, denied a goal only by Jordan Pickford’s solid goalkeeping, was a constant threat, leading in touches in the opposition box (seven) and shots on target (four). His impactful display earned him a deserved standing ovation upon his substitution for Jadon Sancho.
