I watch a fair amount of football and struggle to see how any of the new defenders are even close to Rudiger or Christensen or how any of those attacking signings are better than Werner and Lukaku.

The squad isn't better. It is younger and could reach a higher level, but better? Not much indicating that, is there?

Lampard is facing the same issue as Potter and the next bloke will have: the squad built for tomorrow is expected to perform today... which isn't realistic.

Just finished watching the game. What a performance. We were so poor that it is impossible to understand. Frank was a superb player but as manager he is nothing. There is no spirit in our game. I thought that if something Frank would bring in some fighting spirit. But no.. We should get rid of at least half of these lousy loosers.

As Merse said after the game, “4 wins in 21 Premiership games. This must be the worst run ever for a team with so much talent in the squad”. 

Disappointed today though to be fair Frank has been back less than a week.

Rest assured I DO NOT but ironically, the Leafs are having a pretty decent season, one which can not be said about this sorry lot of Blues.

This is a great season compared to the early 80’s and it’s on par with 2015-16 when the much maligned Willian was our best player. Boehly is obligated to own the team for 10 years and I’m expecting the success to happen from 2027-32 before he sells out so expectations are pretty low right now. 

Chelsea fans are a fickle bunch as well. Many wanted Lukaku and his 15 goals in 29 games replaced by Havertz who now boasts a mediocre 7 goals in 31 games. They got what they wished for, mediocrity. Hazard and Lampard even scored at a better rate than Havertz when we had a decent centre forward. Chelsea and their fans go up and down more than a yo-yo! 

Can't remember the last time I shouted 'Get in there son!'  when the ball hit the back of the net........or was it watching some sex flick the other day..

After the Everton game substitutions, which were just plain stupid, yes - he's [POTR] got to go - now or the summer not going to make a big difference.

Four things stand out for me:

1) Inability to handle a dressing room full of star players

2) Inability to make smart tactical substitutions when required

3) Inability to get the team to work hard for 90 minutes

4) Lastly his inability to take risk - He who dares wins...

You're right we've needed to replace the Cech, JT, FL, Drogba spine of the team that made us a great side for about 10 years now...

Is Potr the guy to make it work, judged on what he's done so far no, judged on what happened in the Everton game when he lost us 3 points - not in month of Sundays!

Seriously, I cannot ever remember a Chelsea "manager" throwing away a game and 3 points like Potr did against Everton ... he's a wire twanger.

It's strange, reading the reports and listening to them quote the stats etc the players on the pitch didn't do too badly.

The problem is obviously Potr:

1) Not playing our best eleven - Cucurella ? - Kante on bench ?

2) Playing our most gifted players out of position - James CB ?

3) Not giving new guys enough time to get comfortable - Mudryk ?

4) Making defensive substitutions when he should be going for it - Everton game ?

5) Making rotational substitutions to in an effort to keep everyone happy when he should leave things alone and let the boys see out the game etc.  - Everton game ?

 

Potr simply doesn't know how to manage the large Chelsea squad he's got.

I feel sorry for the players because it's like they're playing with their hands tied behind their backs and now they've lost confidence in front of goal.

And of course half the squad must know they're going in summer... so what does that do for everyone? Todd Boehly has to take some blame, inflating the squad hasn't made it easy for Potr but ultimately Potr needed to manage that situation and he hasn't - he's failed.

4/4 After Potr Sacking

Lot's sentimentality on here...

I'm sure he's  [POTR] a nice guy - just a crap manager - yes part of it's down to the players and part of it's down to Todd but when you've got the "manager" playing RLC where James should be and James playing CB when the real CB is left on the bench - you're going to lose the players, dressing-room, confidence, the match and ultimately your job.

Let's hope Bruno can play the boys who "give everything" in their normal positions and we can get back to putting the ball in the net at the other end soon.

7/4 Welcome home SFL

 I'd really love him to do well... and even if he doesn't it'll be better than watching Potr get it wrong every week.

Let's hope he's strong enough to, leave the "personalities" and "seniority" aside, pick our best team of 11 , stick with them and not be afraid to bench whoever is not giving the 110% you have to give to win games in this league.

 

Today:

In retrospect I'm sure Todd's thinking like most other people, that it would have been better to have stuck with Tuchel. And just bought ONE PLAYER, a decent striker, with all the money we had - then we wouldn't have had so much disruption and the CIRCUS we have now.

BTW I'd have preferred we kept Tuchel, Rudiger, Christensen, Werner.. and ...etc but we are where we are now: The new   🤠 owners shooting from the hip.

Honestly, what do people expect? 

It went kinda as I expected. If lamp played structured football and started hiding player weaknesses, I want him to be fired on the spot. 

What this game showed us? Nothing new. In 343 you can hide attacker who does not defend, midfield who cannot defend and defender who can't run.  It is more difficult to do so playing back 4. 

Player performance wise there was nothing new. 

60 m for Cucu continue to be hilarious. He is just a very average player. 

Felix can't play in back 4 unless you play him in the middle aka st. Defensively he is just so bad. Is it worthed protecting Felix? 

Enzo can't screen backline but that is fine, it is worthed protecting enzo. 

Kepa is simply not good enough. 

KK can't really play in back 4 unless he is protected

Kai is not a true 9.

Sterling was very bad but this was his first game back after a while

A lot of criticism on Gallagher which is bizzare. Gallagher is not a star but he offered a lot of stuff on the field. Kova on the other hand was 😱😱

CFC sure is having trouble scoring.  It's like the Chelsea team has a scoring jinx on it.

I agree with all of this except about Cucu.  He is a below average player.  It's comical to watch him play.

When you look at the squad it is actually not that surprising. Last season our top scorers across all competitions were:

Lukaku: 15

Havertz: 14

Mount: 13

Werner: 11

Even those numbers are not that great considering how many games we played. Then when you conisder that Lukaku and Werner have not been with the club this season. Of those  strikers brought in Auba has been a disaster. Sterling has at least scored a few goals but has struggled with injuries. Broja might have scored a few but picked up a season ending injury too.

Mount has also lost form and struggled with injury. That leaves Havertz who still has a chance to come close to his tally from last season. But as we have seen he is not a striker and we need to expect better from a number 9. 

Ultimately it was clear at the end of last season that we needed a striker to replace Lukaku. yet despite spending a fortune over 2 windows we haven't come close to addressing that issue. Until we sort that out our goalscoring issues will continue.

 

Frank picked a Potter team and formation and expected different results, I truly hope he has learned from that awful, awful 90 mins. We need to play 3 at the back Fofana, Koulibaly (until God returns) & Badiashile. Then our most potent attacking weapons, Reece & Chillers, can have license to do their stuff. Its not bloody rocket science. I'd hope that Frank has watched enough of this Chelsea team to know that Cucarella & Sterling are simply awful options. Havertz plays only as we have no choice, although i'd be tempted to give the other Fofana some more minutes. He looked handy. Kante & Enzo need minutes together too. I only hope that someone from above is not "guiding" Frank into his selections ("if you don't play so and so he will lose value"), or it will only end in tears for him as his reputation crashes.

Tbh this is probably the worst CFC team since the early 80's and the most disappointing in my many years of support (in the early 80's we just had a very average team).

Our three midfielders need to be Enzo, Kante and Zakaria, every other midfielder are basically squad players not starting XI. Mount/Havertz can be swapped in for one of those, just keep them away from the attacking trio positions.

Badishile and Fofana should be the first names down to start in a 3 man defence, Koulibaly can be the third until Silva is back. James and Chilwell as the wing backs, our best of way of utilising both.

Pretty much spot on. Of course we are always open to a shot from 20 yards or more with Mr Flappy in goal but outfield wise its the way I would go and is probably the least risky. Playing a centre forward as a centre forward. Who'd have thought
