Could easily be 5 years or more. We think we have hit bottom, there could be a long way to go yet. Get the next appointment wrong on top of this shambles. Punitive measures for financial issues. There is still loose ground under our feet if we keep getting this wrong.

For whatever reason, this first season of control from the new owners, has been nothing short of catastrophic

💯 “surely it can’t get much worse from here.” . I’m not saying it will but this CAN get soooooo much worse.

More about how we have royally fcked ourselves, cos any new bloke coming in will have to try to bomb off a load players that are on long contracts and big money. The club have made some massive mistakes adopting a strategy that has never worked, and we could be made to pay for a long time. Sobering but probably pretty much spot on.

Did he provide any insights on where bears defecate?

God are you still here surely there must be another set of fans you can annoy who do you support mate and please don't say Malmo cause you're probably from somewhere like Swindon.

We’ve lost, again, but at least I can say that it’s probably been the most enjoyable game (together with the Liverpool at home) that I’ve been at the Bridge this season. AT LEAST THE PLAYERS HAVE PUT A f**kING EFFORT! And the Bridge has been rocking since before kick off. We should have win today, but we can’t score for sh*t, so there that, but the players have tried (most of them at least).

Well, as Potter used to say, the boys gave everything tonight. At least until that goal but after that it became psychologically extremely hard to play. Although we had our chances and looked threatening at times, we are genuinely disorganised as a team. The only attacking pattern I see is give the ball to James and hope he can deliver a decent cross, and that is just one of many problems we're facing.

Frank's setup tonight was surprising but to be fair to him, it could've somehow worked out well if we had been more clinical. I still find it hard to blame him for anything although it's clear he isn't up for a job at a top club. Hopefully one day he could reach that level but his managerial future doesn't look really promising right now.

No point in comparing us and Madrid, they are a class above us, although I wasn't particularly impressed by them over these two legs but it seems like they never got out of third gear. Realistically this is where we're at now, what frustrates all of us is how quickly we've fallen in such a short time but let's not dwell on the past. Even if we managed to advance we'd still be in big trouble. The future is uncertain and we've got tons of problems to solve.

P.S.

A Walk in the park for Real, not much there to say about us really. Best chances fall to the worst finishers in the team, and defensively always vulnerable regardless who we played there. Another visit by the Boehly to the dressing room, may as well takes over the manager role since we basically got 7 games for trial and error ( just need a win in there somewhere to stay up)

I thought Frank had the team set up well. Kovacic and Enzo played very well and the James/Kante combo was excellent down the right. Shame about Chilly's suspension and Mount's woes. A left side would have also been helpful.

Madrid really are the model of how to spend money well in recent times. They have mixed experience and the best youth prospects well. The key difference of course is Benzema who is unparalleled, compared with Havertz who has never really developed beyond being a flat track bully in Germany. Boehly's haphazard recruitment has left us with 600m spent and no real improvement in attacking quality.

No discredit to the team or Frank. This was a tall ask and we did well. But in the end this what you reap from the poor ownership with little idea about football.

We attacked with Gallagher and Havertz and when the tie was officially dead only then did Lampard bring on attackers and implemented a U shaped attack.

Don't agree with this notion Lampard set us up well.

It's always a balance, avoiding their counters and trying to find a goal. If Kante and Cucurella take their chances we are in it.

Naive to think we could just throw caution to the wind.

And if Benzema, Modric, Vinicius and Rodrygo take their chances the score line would've been far worse.

If, ands, or buts.

Yeah for sure. In the end we lost and that's the measure that matters.

I might say Oh for a Drogba or Costa tonight, someone to impose themselves and will us a goal.

Also tonight was yet again another indication why Havertz needs to be moved on.

He did well tonight but at what cost? Having a system virtually tailored for him where he can drift out right when he's a ST? Massive void in the centre of attack. If he's made as a winger he cannot take players on nor is he quick enough in possession.

A completely redundant footballer that we need to get rid of.

Are you for real mate a player who's not a natural centre forward has Gallagher and Kante playing as no 10's and you think this was tailored for him ?.

Yes, it was.

If he’s not occupying that false 9/drifting CF role, he’s sh*t everywhere else. When he’s in that role, we lack a focal point up top to drag defenders. There is also a massive void in the middle where a striker needs to be, hence the U shaped attack we continue to see.

The Happy Squanderer - a Tragedy.

Act I Scene I

(inside the opposition six yard box)

La Cucaracha watching the ball roll invitingly towards his feet with the net unguarded...

la Cucaracha:  geez, I might be able to hactually score one here... probably I should hit it first time... hey, I wonder if the Ferarri will arrive at the dealership soon... those bastards had the gall to charge me for the metallic paint upgrade even though I'm the second most expensive acquisition in the history of this now second rate.... Hey where'd the ball go!?!

Act I Scene II

Chalobah's descent into madness - to be continued...

Yes thats true but what if the others can't score???????????

This is what we are talking about from a  week

My point is they (the AM's) would have more time and space and maybe accuracy as a result of that extra time provided by a proper striker.

Been saying it for ages. Havertz doesn't fit the EPL. He's no striker (not clinical enough) - nor is he a #10 (not industrial enough). He's not an attacking/center mid (no pace or passing range) and you can forget about any defensive role. He's simply a Rolls Royce in a Formula 1 race. Not saying he can't play football - he can but it has to be on his own terms - just that he's ill suited to the PL.
