November 23, 20241 yr That goal reminds me of a centre forward who wants to score goals just ran through their defence
November 23, 20241 yr Good goal today, made it himself and well finished. Does his missed header also count as an assist? Odd performance - in that he was involved in both goals - but was rubbish (anonymous) for the vast majority of the game. Still...big opening goal, so I will have to take my medicine for the week.

Inzaghi is a legend and scored plenty of goals. He never looked like he was bossing the game, in fact most of the time he was anonymous and offside but scored important goals too and lots of them. I see Jacksons game similar to him. In my books today he was the most influential player on the pitch after Fernandez.

He was involved in almost everyone of our most dangerous chances. Created Noni's chance in the first half with a brilliant left footed cross and had a decent shot on target, which led to Palmers chance that was blocked by Noni.

'decent shot on target'... love this spin! A sh*t shot when he should have passed = 'decent shot on target' 🤣

Although the finish was the easy part Jacko created that goal out of nothing with his power and determination. Cheaped out though, Nico makes our winning goal along with scoring the first, but Jim only credits $10 not $20? Lol
November 24, 20241 yr The goon scores a good goal against relegation cannon fodder.... and the blinkered are out in their droves as if he had "proven" he is a decent player.... Blowing everything out of proportion. It was a well made and taken goal. And an important one. Against Leicester. After a run of games where he was utter sh*t.... A goal against the worst team in the league is the least he should be doing. Long may it continue - but as ever, I doubt it will....because whilst every dog can have its day, the donkey remains rubbish. Edited November 24, 20241 yr by nonotnowjim
November 24, 20241 yr Also a key assist with that header too Jim, was it not a 20 quid performance? ;)
November 24, 20241 yr His goal was superb. The fight when the ball bounced, desire, and two touches after receiving the assist from Enzo. More please!

That was such a beautiful pass to noni and would have been a definite contender for goal of the month, a beautiful counterattacking "team" goal. I know team is stretching it alot, with just 3 ppl but still. Lol

You know that saying about flies to sh*t or something like that... He put flies everywhere to shame at how he was not giving up on that ball of sh*t. 🤣 Jim is right though...we need that every game and tbf, he hasn't put his head down once since he joined.
November 24, 20241 yr Great finish for his goal but you can't be getting excited about the header, it was straight at the keeper ffs who made a meal of it.

The fact the shot was on target is irrelevant. I get Jim's point. I made the same observation myself in the match thread. The better option was a straight forward sideways pass across the box to Palmer or Noni who were both in space. If the roles were reversed and Noni had tried the shot rather than making the pass, you and a lot of others would have been going completely mental and saying how "greedy" Madueke is. Personally I don't mind that Jackson took the shot. I like my forwards to be confident enough to have a crack at goal when the opportunity is there. But it is unfair to say one player is allowed to do it but another isn't.
November 24, 20241 yr Very quiet game but you know what? That's alot better than being involved and missing chance after chance like last season.

For the header Ernie, the defender totally lost the flight of the ball and was unable to challenge for it as he ended up facing the wrong direction. Anyone who tries to argue that Jackson is good in the air doesn't know what they are talking about. The upside is heading the ball and knowing when to jump for it is something that can be taught and learned.

I certainly do not mind someone who has already scored having a pop instead of passing. If you can find a post of mine where I went mental at Noni shooting when he’s already scored I would like to see it but I doubt you would have much success. My issue is Noni does it almost non stop when he hasn’t scored in a while. Edited November 24, 20241 yr by Remodez
November 24, 20241 yr I thought overall he was relatively poor again, took his goal really well, played a part in the 2nd. But his hold up play and general game was very quiet, ball rarely stayed with him. But if he ends every game with a goal and assist then we can't really complain. Pipo Inzaghi was the worst top level footballer I've ever seen, barely able to control the ball, but he was also one of the best finishers I've ever seen, and I'd love to have seen us sign him.
November 24, 20241 yr He is far from the finished article, there a quite a few things that still need to be polished. His finishing has improved, but still isn't elite level, and the timing of his runs when the ball is out wide is also not very good. But he still has 7 goals and 3 assists in 12 games. If he manages to keep this rate up until the end of the season, he is on track to get 22 goals and 9 assists... all without taking penalties. On top of that he works hard, is a big threat on the counter attack and has decent hold up and link up play. Now it remains to be seen if he can keep it up, but to criticise him on the basis of this season to the amount that some on here do, is, quite frankly, ridiculous. He has had a very good start to the season, despite his flaws.

Trying to save my nemisis 10 quid too. but... ive said it before and will continue to say it, miracles happen when the ball crashes off Jackos head. I love the guy, at time he's been brilliant for us this season, will defend him until the cows come home, but I cant think of a worse header of the ball Ive seen at the bridge in a striker. Im wracking my head here. Jackson actually gives me a good chuckle and reminds me of a couple of players i played with in sunday league football who just couldnt read the flight of the ball or show desire to head it. This type of performance is needed from him over Xmas period, he and others also need to turn up.

My I add put out a thought.. (I will) I'd say in general Jackson has much less impact on games then last season, in terms of coming deep, making play etc. A bit part of his game last year was pulling out on to the wings alot and I think he got a fair few assists from that. He also dropped in to center mid and would start counters with a smart turn. Both of those seem to be way down this season, The heat maps below seem to support this (although a smaller sample set this season so far) So i'm wondering how much of it is maangement instrcution. As for things like making runs in behind, I think one of the reasons we saw Felix is because of an appreciation there wouldn't be a lot of space in behind.. What a cross for Noni though! In other news, I spent the morning yesterday with a Galatasaray fan, they are in love with Osimhen.. convinced he'd be excellent in the Prem"

Missing a free header and having the keeper flap at it and then rebound to Enzo is not an assist! An assist for the keeper perhaps….but certainly not the player who missed.
