Nicolas Jackson - striker

Featured Replies

Is there anyway we can convince FIFA/FA that Mudryks ‘B’ sample was somehow mixed up with Jackson’s? Two birds, One stone.

Proven by actual data to result in worse performance for the team in the PL.

Jackson Starts in the PL : P28 W15 D8 L5 Pts 53 Goals For 51 ; so an average of 1.9 points per game and 1.8 goals scored per game

Jackson doesn't start : P10 W5 D 1 L4 Pts 16 Goals For 13 ; so an average of 1.6 points per game and 1.3 goals scored per game

So what UB said basically. Jackson was the only choice up top last season if we wanted to maximise our chances of scoring goals and taking points.

Is he frustrating to watch ? Absolutely.

Does he get offside a lot ? Yes indeed

Does he miss a lot of sitters ? Ticks that box too

Discipline problems ? Yep

Immaturity ? Ditto

In spite of all this, did we do better with him in the team ? Demonstrably yes, as per above. And that's why he got picked by Maresca.

Does Maresca want a better striker ?Pretty sure the honest answer would be yes

Is Delap that player ? We'll see ... and I certainly hope so as I doubt BlueCo are buying anyone else !

As I have said, if Jackson is the answer - then ask a different question.

If our results were better (as you say) with Jackson up front, then play a different system or style to better support whoever came in to fill the gap. Like for like clearly didn't work with whoever we swapped - with whoever we played looking lost... so change things up. Just don't play this moron who is so clearly not good enough to play for us.

Now now Jim, I asked you who should play. We can only have ONE player, you wouldn't commit yourself to a player, just flung out random names . I repeatedly asked you which one you would play instead of Jackson, not ONCE could you name him .

The question wasn't wrong, you just wouldn't answer it Jim.

I did answer it. Multiple times. Any one of them. or any combination. It wouldn't have mattered. Just not Jackson.

Don't worry - he will aim for the neighbours house, miss, and then it will ricochet off his face into your front garden. Scoredown!!!

In reality it got here but it was later because he went the stupidest way possible. Must be something in the name?

Recently a delivery guy had trouble understanding the concept of ringing the bell that is on streetlevel, and the front door being "buzzed" open, and then proceed through said door. It took a neighbour of mine who happened to come home to take my meal up to me. I now think the delivery guy must have been a Jackson as well, not getting the basics.

I'm not surprised by the data, tbh. I can accept he was the 'best' (make that, least bad) choice for us at CF for much of the season, it's just the other options tended to be worse. He can do some good stuff sometimes, such as the assist for Pedro in the previous match. It's a shame that Guiu was unavailable for much of it, I think we suffered from that, and Nkunku basically stopped trying after he failed to get his transfer in January after looking kind of decent against a bunch of minnows in the Mickey Mouse league. However, the recent sendings off show that we cannot even rely on Jackson to stay on the pitch when selected anymore, so now that we have an alternative in Delap (and Guiu being fit again), there should be no place for him in the team.

Guiu? The guy struggled against servette

This is the same discussion that I saw last season with Washington, where is Washington BTW?

I think BlueCo are far too quick to award big increases to players.

I'd want to see at least two seasons of consistent over performance before even considering doing that, and especially so when a lot of these contracts are so long.

They have to, I think it is in their contract, jackson scored 14 goals (0 penalty) in his first season

At least he didn't get sent off.

And didn’t even elbow a lollipop lady in the face on his way in? One of his good days then…

In the words of Jacko himself

Because I'm bad, I'm bad, shamone (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad (bad, bad)
You know it (really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad (bad, bad)
Shamone, you know (really, really bad)
And the whole world has to answer right now
Just to tell you once again
Who's bad?

'Jackson not for sale'

Sky Sports News' Mark McAdam:

"As far as Chelsea are concerned Nicholas Jackson is not for sale. They want a squad with two world-class no,9's with Delap and Jackson. Those players are going to get game-time. There is interest in Jackson from the Saudi league and Europe but as far as Chelsea are concerned he's not going anywhere. He's signed a contract at Chelsea until 2033. So any offer would have to be a big offer."

I hope Sky are seriously wide of the mark with this briefing as if this is true then

  • It means Jackson is staying (no club is going to make a "big offer")

  • It implies we aren't signing any other CFs

Oh f**k off.

Every player should have a price tag and in Jackson's case that price tag isn't particularly high.

I can understand the club wanting cover in case Delap picked up a bad injury but I would honestly select Guiu ahead of Jackson going forward.

Would we even be any worse off if we sold him and signed a complete unknown? Isn't J.David available on a free?

😂 Now now Jim. If I asked you today you would no doubt say Delap. Because he's obviously the logical replacement. But you refused point blank previously and asked ME to pick one from your bundle of random names.

And as to your repetitive " if the answer's Jackson you're asking the wrong question "

My question was " which player should we replace Jackson with?" The answer to that can NEVER be Jackson .

It must be a Spoof when it says Delap and Jackson are world class strikers.

And it would serm.its purely data driven I hate this data stuff, it doesn't take into account anything other than some numbers.

Who were the games against, what kind if run were we on, how many games had we played in and around them, how many games had the opposition played, what was our team like, what was the opposition team like, how many missing through injuries, what competition, home/away, how involved was he, how many mistakes, what was his movement like, what

Just putting numbers completely ignored the many nuances around them, its statistics used to prove any old bo**ocks.

The eye test is he is detrimental to our players in almost every game, his runs are garbage, Delap plays twice and both times his runs were immediately 100 times better.

Then his attitude which is frankly a disgrace at best, totally unprofessional and moronic.

I agree, but the problem is, is that our transfer policy is " data" driven . .And it would seem it is entirely data driven without , as you say any " eye test" input.. For example, his appalling petulance won't show on any data. .

My answer now remains consistent as it was then. Anyone. Add Delap to the list. I dont care who replaces the donkey. Anyone is better.

If Jackson is the answer, then you are asking the wrong question. If your argument is that Jackson is (was) the only or best striker we had - then change the system to play without a striker. Play an additional CB for all I care - just not him.

Well to start off with its SkySports News. Secondly you forgot to add the ridiculously long pauses to sentences to add to the tension. Especially if its that wally Kaveh you can add in some annoying breathing noises too.

"As far as Chelsea are concerned........ *annoying nose breathing*^ Nicholas Jackson............... is not for........ let me just check my phone sources

*more nose breathing*^ sale."

Story going round on X that Hansi Flick sees Jackson as the perfect replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Barca have apparently made a bid of 63 million euros.

This whole Jackson topic has become so much more than I could possibly have hoped for from a football forum.

I got a bridge am selling you interested 🤣

Thank God I cancelled my Sky contract in 2015 LOL.

I don't even know how much longer the likes of Sky Sports News can last. I catch a few of their clips on Twitter now and again, and you will have some random guy with a pen and paper in his hands in front of a big screen dragging out the most basic information. Then I will scroll down a bit and see the same thing summed up in 10 seconds in a single post. Sky Sports News is basically just a bunch of filler with people putting on their professional voice and pretending they are important. As much as I find some of these ITK accounts on Twitter annoying, they really have shown how pointless the likes of Sky Sports News are these days.
