Nicolas Jackson - striker

Agreed @just - the one black mark for Maresca to date, (well two if you include his treatment of Carney).

Great that we beat Spurs today and did so with Sanchez, Badiashille and Jackson who were all poor. Jackson was a passenger today. When he doesn't get on the score sheet he offers very little. Should have been subbed earlier.

Agreed - but he did prevent the enzo booking. Ive mentioned it earlier in the thread but do you not think that In general this season when he's not scoing you feel him far less, compared to last season where he seemed to drop deep a lot, be heavily invovled in build up play but would often fluf his lines at the crtical moment. ... just wondering how much of that is coming from Maresca.

Regardless I'd like to see Nkuku start on Sunday , I don't think it's a bad ting for Jackson to have a rest.

A shockingly poor situation when the best that can be said about this sorry excuse for a player is “he stopped a player getting booked”.….

…..and yet STILL some people defend him. It’s a really odd thing. He is Rubbish.

Alas….I will add this to the long list of games when he has been piss poor this season - Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Brighton Bournemouth, forest, Palace, Villa and now spurs. For reference - a popular football rating website saw him score between 6.2 and 7.5 for all these games….(ie - he was rubbish).

He has still only played well against West Ham (9.0) and Leicester (8.1), with half decent spells against wolves (7.8) and Newcastle (7.6). That’s it. Still only scored higher than 8 twice!  And still people defend him!

And before people say these scoring sites are flawed (I agree btw!) - this is the more generous way to appraise him, because if we were going off the eye test, then he is going to come off even worse!

Didn't get his goal or anywhere one actually. He does chase down a good press better than Nkunku tough.

Overall poor though yesterday.

Don't know about that Andy. N'kunku is better in the air than Jacko.

In rgds to the game:

Tbh both Jackson and nkunku were just ways of opening up space against spurs which left the others open and playing. Spurs marked them heavily, I guess it was ange's tactics. They both did their part and contributed off the ball.

But fk all that...+3 to the above rgdn the yellow. 🤣

I loved it, he stopped Enzo from getting a yellow and a ban. Fkn brilliant.

Also, you can see his emotion in the game. He was tearing up when being subbed off.

Jacko jacko jacko... I'm sorry but a 23 Yr old kid in his 2nd top flight season (or 3rd, if including italy), his background, his improvements on and off the ball, the emotions he showed for Chels as he came off...then shame on ppl just fkn laying into him, i don't care what anyone on here says, have a fkn heart and support the kid(s).

The kid has soo much heart, you can see he also wears it on his sleeve, loves our club and deserves our fkn support just for those points alone.

He's young and learning his trade...and he's doing really well. Sry guys but I can't engage in this bs aimed towards the kid every week.

Some classics from the matchday thread....thought nice to round up and summerise here....

That's the problem with Jackson, he'll have about 2 good minutes per game and that's it. Horrible in a game like this.

A day for Jim.

Jackson has been stinking. It’s like he has weights on his ankles.

This is definitely a game where Nkunku can change it.

Still convinced we’ll win.

Sloppy sh*t all round. And Sanchez is a complete joke of a keeper.

And Jackson looks as bang average as a striker can possibly look. Not very quick, not very strong, not a great first touch. But  we ain’t got much choice, so Jackson it is.

If Jackson continues as he has played so far, and Werner scores for them, you all have to give @nonotnowjim £1000 each. The debate will be over.

He needs to go. He isnt good enough. He is rubbish. Having heart isnt enough. Put any of us in a Chelsea shirt and we will also show heart and try....it doesnt mean we deserve a free pass to play for chelsea.

Werner is a lovely boy. Leave him alone.

And even if Werner is sh*t, Jackson is worse.

Mate, you can do and say what you like bud. It's all good, it's the Internet.

I just choose not to engage with bullsh*t and bullocks aimed at a 23yr old, that is trying his best, learning his trade and wears his heart on his sleeve for our club nearly every week! Sometimes more!

He's a Chelsea player. By now we all have a rough idea what everyone thinks and done. Why you choose to keep at it every week that's upto you, I choose not to.

Personally, I have a 21yr old, and I just find it quite sad at the sh*t aimed at wacko when you and everyone can see he is trying to learn and do his best.

I hope Maresca sees all the negative stuff aimed at jacko and doubles down. It's what a good mentor/coach/etc would do. If he's putting in the effort in training, learning, and doing what he's supposed to do on the pitch then I really do hope Maresca shows him the love every supporter should be showing.

You think jacko is rubbish...thats absolutely fine bud. Window is in January, if someone else is available and better then why not, I'm with you. But until then...

BTW, I don't care if its wacko, cucu, nkunku or even the disaster brothers. There's a limit...as a supporter, I choose to stand by the team, especially if they are putting the hard graft in. If they ain't any good, again  that's fine. Window opens twice a year.

Yes he is and his time is coming.

I thought it would have come sooner but Jacko's been scoring. I also thought Jacko would have got a ban by now but he seems to have realised his temperament could cost him his place. He hasn't been booked for a while and even prevented Enzo getting sent off for taking his shirt off .

If Nkunku keeps his head up he'll be in the team before Xmas and Jacko can play the Kalou role.

I think a good idea (which won't happen) is to switch Jackson to the Europa (Conference, but we'll leave that word out so it sounds better) team and put Nkunku into the starting Prem team! I reckon it would help both players right now!

Yep - or Nkunku to the EPL, and Guiu to the Europa, and Wacko to the real conference (Vanarama whatever its called)

*I think the game against Southampton that he had to miss for yellows was good for his learning curve, lol. He was absolutely brilliant in stopping Enzo jnr in getting a yellow.

The kid is learning, they all are but he's also learning the basics he's missed by not being from an academy setup from a young age.

I think both jacko and nkunku did their roles well yesterday. In the analysis vids I watched yesterday** it showed how much space they were opening up for Enzo, cucu, lavia then gusto. Even palmer in the 2nd half found space because they occupied the cbs really well. Was it espn, I think, showed the boxes/circles of how much space there was by jacko and nkunku staying put and not coming too deep at times to help with link up.

Like I posted in the game thread, Maresca is tactically superior to ange. Love it and can't wait for the next few seasons, them to "mature" and gain experience.

** I seem to be hooked to YouTube this last week. I've never stayed this long watching anything on YouTube, let alone scrolling and looking for vids!

He's been called thick & unitelligent on here. Stopping Enzo getting a booking for taking his shirt off during a celebration shows quite the opposite actually. he's always thinking and always on it. It also shows that he thinks about the team. It also shows he cares about Enzo, that action shows a lot of really positive traits.

He works his socks off but he was also really bang average yesterday. Stopping Enzo being carded just showed that this group of players are fighting and helping each other and the result mattered more than personal goals. He will always cop stick but he always looking to improve.

Conversely we were very close to having the whole atmosphere of our performance and the media narrative against changed again if his crying at being substituted had continued to escalate. The TV director sensed it as well as they made the camera pan in on him and stayed on him all the time he trudged off, pulling the shirt over his head.

I confess that at that point I was holding my breath, half expecting another Kepa type scenario unfolding, much to the horrified delight and mockery of the scouse w*nker on commentary.

Whilst I find the inconsistency in his touch, awareness, and general on ball technique frustrating I will concede that the stats illustrate he contributes to the side. Its this other side to his on field personality I am really uncomfortable with. One of the biggest achievements from Maresca thus far is the quietening of this negative media narrative,  the last thing we need is this guy undoing this due to some of the antics we have seen from him.

The pulling his shirt over his head annoyed the hell out of me. You're being subbed off after a less than stellar performance of your own doing, not stretchered off with a career threatening injury, FFS, man up!

Unfortunately he has a few stinkers in his locker and that was one of them.

I’m hoping he will learn to stop having bad games because he’s a fantastic player on his day and we would have destroyed Spurs easily if he was playing well. I’m not saying he would have scored a hat trick but his link up and team play would have caused havoc.

If he continues to play badly over Christmas then I agree it’s probably a good time to give Nkunku a couple of starts.
