What do you mean disgusting? It’s not like he was strolling on the pitch. Didn’t come off today but effort was there.

I don't think the effort was there. He wasn't pressing well, he wasn't focused when he received the ball, he was getting in players way. Why is he never getting ahead of a defenders when a cross comes in? Why is he always lagging behind? His movement has been really poor. He just wanders around, sometimes getting in players way when he could be finding space for himself or trying to help teammates get a shot away by dragging a defender out of the way.

I can answer all of your questions Scott. In fact, I have answered them already, 752 times.

HE IS RUBBISH

This is a Rafa level FACT. He isn't unlucky. He isn't misunderstood. He is simply sh*t.

Second half I would say this was the case but the whole team dropped off at that point.

If he was playing in any team outside the top 6, I don't even think he would have goals to fall back on. I genuinely believe we are carrying him.

dude you actually watch the game ?
all he did was get in the way

There was a point in the 2nd half where were were attacking down Fulham's right and on the corner of the 18yard line within about 4 feet of each other were Sancho, Jackson, Palmer and Gusto.(I believe)looking where to pass..the attacking central area of the box was void of any blue shirts, you would think one of the them, Jackson at least, being the CF, would have had the brains to move in to the central attacking area of the box...but oh no, lets stay with my mates and play a bit of tippy tappy....Jacko mate, you can't score from 6 yards so I doubt you'd score from the corner of the box...so get your arse inside the penalty area where you should be.

Albeit the loss wasn't on him today, but his positioning for a CF is something to be addressed

You say the loss wasn't on him today but unfortunately that can never be put to the test. This was exactly the type of game where it needed a big time forward driving the team on with a piece of individuality. 1-0 up, not bossing the game but still creating chances. Just as Fulham are building a head of steam, contenders, real contenders, have a striker that can create or nick a goal out of nothing.

The issue I have with this guy is that none of this appears natural to him, everything seems laboured and slowly plotted in his head. He often gets himself out of trouble as he does have nimble feet. Sadly he has no footballing IQ whatsoever to back it up. He has kind of acknowledged this himself.

I agree with @Scott Harris in that the team carries him, in that the chances created are sufficient that any dominant forward would have at least the same stats and probably better.

This window might actually be quite interesting to see what is done here. The SDs have stated that the replenishment is done and targeted purchased are what they are after now. This Christmas period highlights for me that a) Nkunku is not the alternative in this system (and im gutted by that) and b) we have to get a top striker to compete with Jackson.

Interesting you say this, as I was actually looking at heat maps comparing our forwards earlier this morning !

Obviously a very small sample, and a clear difference in the quality of opposition, but it is clear as day who the natural centre forward is !!!

Profile wise I have come to terms with the likelihood that Nkunku doesn't fit the system which is now putting him in this cycle of not getting enough game time to prove himself and then looks out of sync with the tactics when he does get on.

Love Guiu's enthusiasm but he's just not ready in this scenario.  2-0 up with 15 to play then blend him in.

Jackson is the right profile for this system but I think there is an opportunity for us to go out and get a player that plays I a similar manner but is just technically better.

Based on the profile of strikers we've been scouting the directors want a ST different than Jackson and I agree. A box presence is something this team severely lacks.

f**king hell even Diogo Jota is a significantly better aerial presence than Jackson.

Yes I agree. Apologies I wasn't very clear. I think that there are certain attributes that Maresca sees as mandatory. Working the channels, dropping into midfield, being strong,  winning and retaining possession and allowing the attacking midfielders to join is a must.

Nkunku just doest fit this profile.  Nkunku is the second striker delivering the killer blow after the initial punch. Bit like Martinez working off of Lukaku at Inter under Conte (?).

Jackson does tick a lot of these boxes but none of it appears to be natural. I think Osimhen, to a degree, Gyokeres, Vlahovic and Delap are in the mould of what I think he wants. Delay will be the cheapest and easiest option to get. I have a suspicion though that actually Vlahovic could do well in this system, although I get that Italy football is no measure.

Some feedback from the matchday thread. Lets all never forget how useless this c**t is.

At halftime Maresca should wrap Jackson in double-sided tape. See if he can make anything stick.

Alright, but it’s so frustrating how non-clinical we are in front of goal.

And I can’t be as harsh as some about Jackson, but even with some improvement he still produces more scream inducing bad play than I can handle.

The only logical reason Jackson is playing is that hes good in the showers with the coach

I'm done with him, we sell him off quick and rebuild our attack.

We don't need a guy who gives interviews and cries on the bench when we're winning and he played sh*t.

We need a guy who makes PL defences look sh*t.

He's supposed to be our starting striker, but let's be honest, how many people on here genuinely believed he would make a difference when he was coming on? And how many were confident he would score that one on one with the keeper? I'd guess not many, which I think answers the question on whether he's good enough. If we can't trust him to score a clear chance or even make a positive impact as a sub, how can anybody think he should be leading the line for us?

is there anyone on here (apart from Maresca) who hand on heart believes he is good enough to be our main striker? he has been crap for last few games hes played and contributed nothing last night after he came on
