Pretty fun half. We really grew into the game once we started focussing on attacking down the right, where James, Sterling and Jackson have worked together really well.

Working the ball through the middle (and attacking down the left) were ineffective. Trying to play through the four players they usually have in midfield off the ball with Fernandez and someone who isn't a natural distributor (but a brilliant athlete) worked as well as you could probably imagine. Playing around their midfield has made us look far more dangerous.

Chukwuemeka in particular has looked far, far better combining between the lines than he did as an outlet on the left (where he had a disastrous first ten minutes).

Really positive end to the half. Hope we can keep it up.

Jackson down injured 

Was always going to be a difficult game, I think we're doing really well considering the circumstances.

But I think every man and their gold fish can see the huge gaping problem we have in midfield. A bit weird that we started the season without a proper player there, Gallagher is not going to cut it in that position. Hope this waiting for Caicedo is worth it.

I will never understand why Gallagher is being played deep. He has no technical ability and needs 3 touches to control the ball. 

 

how many times Gallagher lost a ball in dangerous areas exposing our rear end to penetrate...? 🙂

this Sanchez guy in goal looks really dodgy to me - even his movement on the VvD shot there looked slow and odd

Because Enzo is now n.8 and not n.5 from last season.
