Understandable. It was a rough time. Terry became a target of the media the moment he was picked to captain the side ahead of Gerrard. I never forgave them for that.

Lamps also got it as well. His fault whenever Gerrard had a poor game or England did not win as he was limiting Gerrard. England "fans" went out of their way to boo basically any Chelsea player.

England have lacked a manager with passion for the team for a long time too. Hardly inspires.

Southgate has the personality of a turnip.

That is not really the problem. Who should Southgate call instead of Henderson and philips? They have to be defensive midfielder.

City has the best chance of beating any other team but for me a full-strength Brighton pips them and Arsenal are a close third in terms of difficulty (for him personally). These games are dead rubber qualifiers with qualification secure and top spot almost certain.

Perfect chance to try out someone like Alex Scott in that position, or if we stick to 'traditional' DMs Longstaff is much more deserving than those two on current form.

A lot of options out wide, not surprised he was not picked. I guess the only one he could have got in over was Bowen but he's deserved his call up too, maybe next time it will be Palmer instead of him.

Phillips doesn't play. You're saying that there is not a single english defensive midfielder playing anywhere so a bloke who doesn't play club football can play for the national team?

There really isn't any good english DM's, if we had one Rice wouldn't be playing there to begin with, so yes even Phillips with no games played gets in cause of his past performances.

I find it odd how Southgate seems to now consider Trent a midfielder when moving Stones up to DM would be a better idea.

Longstaff deserves it more than JWP but both are a replacement for Henderson, not Phillips.

Thats a good shout, hes been outstanding for Newcastle. Its just madness that hes sticking with a player that never plays, and one playing alongside and against a load of farmers, in front of 600 people.

He's probably going to stick with the same core group until he's left after the Euros.

If we're insisting on multiple PL games to play two dead rubbers, Sean Longstaff.

I don't know why Scott can't be called up despite his early stages of PL experience however. Mount was called up after 4 PL games, CHO started an international game before a PL one.

Ex player returns to club that raised him.. In our experiences, a former player of ours comes back and scores against us - so hears to hoping.
