He could have played in midfield or either wing, let's not forget he was a full international at that point for Belgium. The issue was Mourinho who loves player who work defensively for the team, that's why he preferred willian on the right to kdb and Oscar in the middle over KDB. No way if klopp or pep was our coach at that time would they have sanctioned that sale but what's done is done. We move When you have Hazard in your team you are playing with 10 man defensively every game. Edited October 25, 20232 yr by Bob stark

Palmer wants to play every week and left the treble winners to do so. Im picking Palmer over Foden every single time. Palmer is great but go watch City v Brighton from the weekend and Foden completely dominated that game. For me Foden is up there with Bellingham. Is anyone in that City team guaranteed to start every game of the season other than Rodri and Ederson?
October 25, 20232 yr Foden is the better player at moment, I don't think there are much to debate about. Pep has developed a routine of resting players so they could all be fresh and in form comes April or May, it showed last season. There are a lot to like about Palmer.
October 25, 20232 yr He doesn't need to be as good as Foden to be a great player, Foden is quality. The fact that he's being compared to Foden just makes me happy to be honest, we've obviously got a good talent on our hands.
October 25, 20232 yr His mentality is exactly what we should be targeting with these transfers. Confident and can perform under pressure. Such a young age too.

I get that Foden is quality but he’s been playing for City for over 5 years now and has never really been a regular. I find that strange even with the quality they have. Pep also tells how only Messi was ahead of him as a teenager. I’d have expected him to kick on by now and play the amount of games the other important players at City do. Palmer has shown bravery leaving City and clearly backs himself to play. His attitude seems to be first class . I’d always go for a player with attitude alongside ability rather than ability alone. I’m not saying Foden doesn’t have a great attitude but the fact he is on the bench so much must be a concern. Foden also struggles for starts under Southgate and I wonder why given how good he is. Having said that Southgate is a terrible manager imo
October 29, 20232 yr Thank god he is not raw. When we got him, I was afraid he is another Madueke/Mudryk/Jackson.

November 1, 20232 yr “[...] You create expectations when you sign a player but of course, I cannot say I did expect that. If I say I expect I am lying. You always feel the player when you have the player. From day one when he starts to train you start to see the talent but the team needs time to be much better.”

November 7, 20232 yr I can’t believe Man City let him go, especially being an academy player. What on earth. It also shows how dire our transfers have been… If we signed 5/6 players with the maturity and confidence of Palmer we’d be challenging for the title now.
November 7, 20232 yr Cole Palmer has done more for Chelsea in the last 2 months than Joao Felix did in his entire stint

Yes 9th
November 7, 20232 yr Massive respect for this guy. He's a young kid without much experience and yet he's got the balls to take the penalties for a side that doesn't score many goals and is under a lot of pressure. He takes them well too.

TBF its only the same as what people say about Livramento/Guehi etc. City have an abundance of talent in attack and had Foden blocking Palmer's path to serious minutes. Same was we've seen Lamptey/Livramento leave because we already had Reece.

He wanted out because (a) he wasn't getting game time; and (b) with the abundance of talent blocking his path he wasn't going to get game time anytime soon apart from Cup starts. Pep's attitude is to let players go if they don't want to be at the club (if they're not irreplaceable).
November 7, 20232 yr He’s the player everyone wanted Mount and Havertz to be. Head and shoulders above them and if he’s not in the England main squad or doesn’t get picked he should go play for his grandad country Nigeria.
November 7, 20232 yr From last year so is centred on Man City, but this is an interesting insight into how Palmer enjoys football (also quite funny): https://www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/cole-palmer-manchester-city-soccer-premier-league @El regreso Looks like he'd be eligible to play for St Kitts and Nevis if he fancied it!
November 7, 20232 yr Palmer performing exactly as I expected him to, tbh. The lad is obviously top drawer talent and I said months ago that people would be saying what on earth were City thinking of, letting him go. He'll get better and better from here as well. You have a future megastar on your hands IMO.

I don't see the mixed ethnicity in him at all. He looks completely white to me but when I saw his middle name was Jermaine, I was like this can't be right as I have never known a white Jermaine 😄 Turns out he has a St Kitts flag somewhere on his boots also.
