October 17, 20232 yr Excellent signing and hes impressed me a lot. I watched a few of his games when he was first playing for City in the cup games and I did really like him then and thought they had a gem on their hands. I do still think he's probably a little bit below Foden in terms of talent and ability, but Palmer is definitely ahead of almost every other city academy product being hyped up recently.

Not sure I agree on the differences in talent and ability. Foden is ahead on the development path and obviously his style of play can be more aesthetically pleasing but Palmer has showed a level of football intelligence and technical ability that I believe at least matches Foden's. At one stage people argued KDB was below the talent and ability of Oscar...

Really comes down to who you prefer I guess, but for me I've always viewed Foden as the bigger talent, but thats not taking anything away from Palmer as I think he's truly fantastic. One of the rare city academy prospects to come through that's actually been with City for a while and not just bought when they were 15/16 like most others
October 21, 20232 yr One of those players that gives an air of calm when on the ball. He lets the game come to him - great player for now and the future.

The issue was that Jose said he wasn't training hard enough and gave us the vibe he was lazy while never playing him.

I think people are underestimating the talent and ability we all thought Oscar had. I'm hindsight it's easy to say KDB was more talented but when 20 year old Oscar embarrassed Pirlo for 90 minutes and scored those 2 goals against Juve we all thought the sky was the limit for him.

I totally agree especially with the MAZACAR combination but the reason Jose gave for not playing KDB was that he didnt track back and wasnt a presser like Oscar was off the ball. Oscar gave me mason mount vibes i.e great off the ball but average on it
October 22, 20232 yr Probably an unpopular opinion but I feel we should play him in this position against the big teams more often. He was Firmino esque yesterday in how he linked up the play and helped us totally dominate the midfield battle.

He really is what Havertz should have been.

I'm sorry but during the period they were both at the club literally the manager, everyone surrounding the manager, and most of the fanbase had that opinion. Oscar was the great Brazilian hope. KDB meanwhile struggled to find a position as despite his great technical ability, he couldn't really cut it as a winger or in central midfield.

October 22, 20232 yr Big.Game.Player... Big.game.mentality. Someone on here was asking who in this squad will step up and destroy the goonies like Drogba did for years. I think Palmer is your answer and I think he's going to become a right baller for us. If we bemoan the sale of Saleh or Debruyn - think City fans will say the same of Palmer? Hope so.

Oscar was rubbish and lightweight. Mount is yesterdays news and hasn't settled at United yet. Bet he, like Hazard is cursing the move.
October 22, 20232 yr Already a mature player with an excellent skill set and work ethic. Real shame he messed up that 1 on 1 with Raya, that does kill the game

Real shame he messed up that 1 on 1 with Raya, that does kill the game I think Raya got very lucky there. His mistake was arguably as bad as Sanchez's but he was fortunate that Cole only got the ball much closer to goal with less time and options. He couldn't just do what Rice did and hit it first time as there wasn't an open goal to aim for. He tried going around Raya, and almost managed it. In the end he might have been better off dragging Raya wide and squaring it for Conor who was open.

Taking it first time may have seen the ball go under Raya if he kept it low enough, or it.may have deflected to one of our players. In the end, like Jackson, if you try to go around the keeper and get it wrong it is a bad choice.
October 23, 20232 yr More I see it from different angles, more I believe Palmer had plenty to aim at and Raya was out of place but that second touch from Cole let Raya back in. Real shame.

Real shame. I'll have to watch it again but from what I remember Cole was quite central when he got the ball and Raya was between him and the goal. A low, first time shot might have beaten Raya but I can also see why he tried to go around him. With the Rice goal, Sanchez was not in front of the goal since he was to the side when he passed the ball out. As a result Rice had a whole goal to aim for. Admittedly he still had to hit an accurate shot first time to take advantage but realistically it was the only logical option for him.

In pre season he was exceptional. He could have played in midfield or either wing, let's not forget he was a full international at that point for Belgium. The issue was Mourinho who loves player who work defensively for the team, that's why he preferred willian on the right to kdb and Oscar in the middle over KDB. No way if klopp or pep was our coach at that time would they have sanctioned that sale but what's done is done. We move
October 24, 20232 yr That was always Mourinhos problem, he signed the death knell of many a young player, purely because they wern't quite ready, never given chance to improve. If they were not top notch from the word go, they were bombed out.
October 24, 20232 yr Foden is an excellent player but still can’t get into the City team as a regular like Rodri for example. He seems relatively content with this. Palmer wants to play every week and left the treble winners to do so. Im picking Palmer over Foden every single time.
