September 1, 20232 yr Looks like he plays RW mostl;y. So will hinder Madueke's play-time, which is a shame, cos he's been a rare bright spark last season when he played.

And last year Madueke had to compete with Ziyech, Mount and Pulisic. Considering the size of our squad this season is smaller he's going to get more than enough minutes.

From the figure in the previous post he looks more like an attacking midfielder so maybe he’s been brought to cover for Carney? But I can’t say that I’ve seen him play, so no idea of where his best position is or where Pochettino is planning to play him.

September 1, 20232 yr LW - Sterling/Mudryk CAM - Nkunku/Chukwuemeka RW - Madueke/Palmer I imagine Palmer fills that central role with Nkunku and Chuk out for the foreseeable.

More likely Sterling moves to the right, given he and Mudryk (when on form) are far superior to Madueke/Palmer.

September 1, 20232 yr Is this our last signing for like 6 years? Please tell me it's at least our last signing for this summer, I can't take anymore.

Sounds like we are done (for first team squad signings at least) It's interesting how there's a lot of talk about this squad could last 10 years What's more likely to me is that we will actually sell some of these players for big money. Even if they are popular. I could see Palmer being sold for 65/70m in 3 years time. We will have to make those types of transfers for the foreseeable to keep profitable by FFP.
September 1, 20232 yr We now have 30 players on minimum 5 year deals, most on 7-8 years. Surely we're going to go a couple of windows with no signings now?

That just doesn't happen in reality. Yes, a lot of the players are young enough to be still decent in 10 years, but all squads need freshening up regularly, and only a small minority of players want to stay at the same for their entire career.

I still fancy that Nkunku rather than Jackson will be our first choice Centre Forward [when he is fit].
September 1, 20232 yr Hopefully he shines he looked really good at City. Interesting these young players are believing in our project and the manager he sees us as good play to develop compared to City.

Not enough pitch time from Pep. Citeh have also got Oscar Bobb who can play the same role as Palmer and is probably rated as a bigger talent.
September 1, 20232 yr We have 2 youth products who already have starting XI positions at the club (Colwill & James).Gallagher who is already being utilized heavily and can consider himself a regular. You then have Mount the seasons prior who was a staring XI regular. Foden has been around the City team for ages and in Pep's words, "tHe bESt pLaYEr I'Ve eVeR cOAcHeD" yet he can hardly get a sniff in the starting XI regularly. It's no surprise Palmer thinks he has a better shot here than at City.

But I sure as hell can’t figure out our strategy. It looks like an utter chaos of expensive youth players. Also, is he currently injured or waiting for his first appearance for us to get injured? Boehly has to keep the club until 2032 and it would make sense if its highest value is achieved leading up to that. I’m guessing that he’s looking to build a team that can win a lot from 2027-32 and hoping that some of these guys can be sold for a profit along the way. We’ve sucked at the player sales part of the business.

September 1, 20232 yr Poch just said in his pre match interview that he didnt want Palmer and that it was the technical director and one of the owners who pushed for the deal. No idea what to make of that statement
